Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I’m sure the NCAA will come back and retroactively tell us “you can’t do that rabble rabble rabble”, slapping some b.s. penalty they just made up. All these Nike schools gonna be at a disadvantage if we do it right. Already preparing my loins for the ensuing battle.
I don’t think the ncaa wants to piss off brands that big like adidas

Would y'all take a 2003 season right now?

Lose to UGA at home but beat UF and Bama at their places (for the first time for each since... 2003). Drop another road game and then lose our bowl/playoff game to finish 10-3.

Also, can you imagine beating Bama in Tuscaloosa in 5OT nowadays?
I wanna say probably? We’d probably get into the playoff and beating Florida and Alabama at their places would be immensely gratifying.

But I hate to surrender the UGA game. I do think they’re probably our likeliest loss and we haven’t really gotten close to them in a long time. They are also more talented. But man am I tired of losing to them and who knows what might happen in Neyland?

It’s a tough call.

I’m hoping we get the same Georgia from last September. Almost gave one up to Kensucky somehow but barely scraped by and then got their throat ripped out by Gumps. If we get a sloppy not dialed in Georgia team we have a great chance with the help of Neyland. If we can play mistake free football (might be hard with our QBs) I think we have one of the best shots we’ve had in a long time.

The NCAA still refuses to include Michigan stealing our signals in 2022 among the infractions. (We were not a regular season opponent, Stallions bought the tickets, but sent someone in his place.) It's OK to do that to Tennessee, according to the NCAA.

A Big Ten GM told CBS. "The problem with the NCAA taking so long to dish out a penalty helped Michigan here. A postseason ban with a quicker decision on top of their punishment would have hit harder." Instead, while the NCAA sat on his hands for years, "They did what they did and won a national title."

The scheme actually started in 2021.
Wait a minute… Please clarify this for me… Did the NCAA not say in the punishment that they did not want to punish student athletes who weren’t even on the roster when all this was occurring? You’re telling me there are no players on the roster who played in 2022 or 2023? We are only in the season of 2025. Are you telling me the Michigan roster is full only of freshmen, sophomores, and transfers that only occurred in those two years?

Didn't the media or NCAA speculate about UT facing the death penalty for Pruitt's crimes against the sport? Or did I imagine that?
Fiddy thousand in a McDonalds bag is one Dodge Charger. 😉 Can’t have that. Now, a parking lot full of Chargers for two decades at Bama is fine.

No, I’m telling you the NCAA sucks. In this particular:

They are substituting a monetary fine equal to 2 years of Michigan’s post season revenue, so as not to deprive players of playing, as you say, instead of the 4 years they are known to have been cheating. So, a 50% discount already.

Next, the NCAA will not base the fines on revenue numbers from the years that Michigan was cheating most flagrantly (which are also the most recent years and, most importantly, the years when Michigan maximized its illicit post season money with playoff appearances — 2023 and 2024. Instead, the NCAA will substitute post season revenue from the 2025 and 2026 season, which will in all likelihood be much smaller.

Not a major point. I was just noticing that even the things that look sorta “normal” are questionable.
