So far I'm going with the only person with any credibility on this. She was a victim and recruiter for Epstein. Doesn't mean she knows everything. And the Maxwell stuff is clearly laughable.

There is a criminal rule of procedure that governs it. I posted it before. Its fairly narrow in what tirggers ot and the DOJ filings have fallen well short of meeting the terms.

I believe this is on purpose as its a show to make it look like the administration is trying to release things. It is amazing to me that this has been going on as long as it has. Every passing day convinces me more that Trump is in there, maybe even prominently.

Maybe you can break this down for me, seems there is some discretion for public interest... And claiming secrecy after stating that the information from the Grand jury was mostly public any way. Doesn't seem consistent. Not challenging you just figure you'd have a better insight.

There is always some part of judicial discretion but that is always going to be exceptional and what he is saying is that releasing it would not serve the interests the DOJ falsely claims it would, and that is largely because it is such a small sliver of the whole.

I get what he is claiming...it inconsistent...he has discretion to release for the reasons of historical public interest (do you agree the case is of historical public interest?), or that it out weighted secrecy which he said the information was already mostly public..so what logical reason would there be to not release it under that discretion??? Other then politics??

I think his concern, voiced by other judges that have heard these same motions, is that it would be counterproductive to the goal in that it would be deceptive to release just the grand jury proceedings.

If the announced goal is transparency, don't hide behind "Here's 30 pages of 300,000 pages."

This MAGA obsession with citing irrelevancies is bewildering. We are where we are and the Trump administration -- members of whom repeatedly claimed during the campaign that there was a conspiracy to hide the files and promised to release them -- are now dodging their promise to do exactly that.

And it seems to have snuck up on them, with Bondi one day saying she has a list and is reviewing it and days later -- at about the same time she reportedly told Trump he is mentioned a number of times in the files -- did a 180 and said there was no list.

Add to that the promise to release the "pertinent" files, which fell flat.

Add to that Trump minimizing his friendship with Epstein, only to have a lot of connections then shown to have occurred.

Add to that Trump berating his own supporters for having the temerity to question this.

Add to that the House shutting down as efforts were pending to force release of the files.

Add to that the distraction quotient of seeking release of just the grand jury testimony.

Add to that Maxwell meeting with Trump's former personal attorney, now an official.

Add to that Maxwell getting unusual consideration in her conditions of confinement.



And add to all of that the fact that none of it has been released.

Didn't that back up the claims there is a conspiracy to keep it under wraps? Bigger than any and every admin. Instead of pointing the finger where it belongs you'd rather use it to score meaningless forum rep points than push against the shadow government that protects it's own and the rich.

I provided that Obama's doj blocked the release and foia requests, seems consistent with a Obama judge who has discretion to release so.e.files is blocking it again. Yes Trump ran in it and botched the releases..but there is zero proof he is in the files doing anything wrong...4 different people says he was not involved that way...the previous admin had opportunities to release the files why didn't they if they were so important??? It is entirely possible that the Biden administration sat on the files to protect prominent Dems or Dem donors and if so they deserve just as much criticism as does the current administration for doing so.

But right now, the only people who control this at the end of the day are Trump and Bondi, maybe Patel. And to me both Bondi and Patel of late have looked like deer caught in headlights on this.

So because it the soup of the day topic...the past admins actively blocking the release and those appointed judges still doing so is less important then today???? Has Trump directed bondi to not release the files or have they filed any blocks of fioa requests or anything to actively block the files?

Response: No, there is no substantiated evidence that Donald Trump has directly instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to withhold or not release the Epstein files. In fact, multiple reports indicate the opposite: Trump publicly ordered Bondi in July 2025 to seek the release of grand jury testimony and related documents from Jeffrey Epstein's sex-trafficking investigations.

Seems to suggest the opposite
