War in Ukraine

Lol, where did I say that we "didn't have an impact"?

We most certainly had an impact, we kept Russia from breaking up into the myriad of ethnic states that comprise it.

You're picking a bizarre hill to die on here.
you said "Has literally nothing to do with whether or not we chucked billions of dollars at Russia in the 1990s to keep them from breaking up."

You're beliefs on this subject, are not grounded in reality if you think the MIC was somehow benefiting from the billions of dollars in US aid spent to prop up Russia in the 90s.

Yeah, around 500 ft per day, on a good day. At some point moms may get tired of losing their sons.

Or Putin will die of cancer for the 8th time. (I have no doubt Putin will die at some point, and he will be replaced by the new Putin -> there is always a new Putin in which to recycle the old nonsense that clearly isn't working) Seriously though, there is no real going back for Russia, its either Russia or Europe. Unlike all the fake wars the U.S. has been in, this is a real war for Russia. They'll have to finish it to a degree, or they are finished.

Eastern Europe should be preparing now.

The largest demolition in recorded history. 💣

Trump Deploys Two Nuclear Submarines Near Russia after 'foolish and inflammatory' taunts in major escalation

President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered the deployment of a pair of U.S. nuclear submarines amid escalating threats and rhetoric with a top Russian official over his deadline to end Russia's war in Ukraine.

The new move of the nuclear submarines to 'appropriate regions' appears mostly symbolic – the U.S. already has a fleet of dozens of nuclear-powered subs that are constantly ready to strike in the event of a conflict.

Pretty much the U.S. has been all-in minus direct war for quite a few years. More silliness isn't going to change much of anything. The U.S. already has nuclear weapons in Europe. The Orange man is going to do what the Orange man does.

Interesting post

The Orange man being the Orange man. It looks like to me that Ukrainians are grouped together in small bunches sometimes in the 3-4 number in holes in the ground and occupy the line, basically just hide out. Ukrainians are doing a good job with drones to keep the Russians from easily dismantling the mine fields with heavier equipment. Russians are going through the lines with low counts 2-4 count and getting behind these lines but many of them expire due to the mines and drones if they use motorcycles. Russians are using less and less heavy armor, the Ukrainians basically have to walk as they get into position as Russia is able to zero in on them with vehicles. Artillery is still being used but not as much as before although near towns/cities they become more useful due to more to destroy and more troops to hit. I would expect Russian causalities to be higher due to the nature of an defender normally has the advantage but the Ukraine has a serious manpower problem. Defenses are setup to stop fast armor from coming across, but the war of attrition is not on their side in the least but Russia is now targeting the support on the back side of the line. Russia has no extended the reach of the FABs up to 100km, and their drone strategies are greatly improving at scale.

I would expect it to continue on for sometime as long if the Orange man continues to play ball with them until that time, the Ukrainians will have to move on from busification of Grandpa to busification of Grandma. It really doesn't take much skill to sit in a hole.

The Russians used a tactic of throwing meat at the Nazi during WW2, the difference here is the Ukrainians don't seem to have any plan on the back side of things. The Russians needed to slow down the Nazis to train and equipment a new army, here... there is no new army coming up - the Grandmas are the reserve I guess. 🤷‍♂️
