The Dbacks were able to trade Jordan frigging Montgomery, who is out for the year and a FA in 2 months.. There are ZERO excuses for AA not moving Iggy and Ozuna.Either he is abysmal (likely) or someone at Liberty has him handcuffed

I'll say it again...he'd rather be thought of as clever/smart/shrewd than make the "obvious" move that makes the team better. And as much as we like to pick on AA, there are lots of other people in his position (and just in life) that do the same thing. I don't know if it is insecurity or what, but the need to be perceived as the smartest guy in the room is powerful for a lot of people. Not a shot at you Big Wick, but I think the Liberty Media narrative has infected the Braves fans too much.
Liberty Media sets the payroll. That's it. They've shown repeatedly they don't care how it's used. McGuirk, Schiller, AA, Liberty Media board members have all stated this. They paid $20M last year to take Jarred Kelenic to players that never played. They let Coppy take millions in salary for guys who never suited up for better prospects. They've given buyouts to plenty of players. Liberty Media has never shown they cared how the money is used, as long as it's in the payroll budget. Why would they care if we took the $6M from Iggy and ate the salary? It's already been budgeted. What's the alternative? Keep him and let him pitch? He's getting his money anyways.
It's just a cover for what AA is: A ****** negotiator and narcissistic blowhard who won't admit he is ever wrong. And since he didn't have leverage, instead of saying "You know what? I might not get what I want exactly but this will be better for the team", he pouted he couldn't pull off of the heist of the century for the media to blow him and make a fair deal. Instead, it's easier for his ego to just say "Well you know what, I'll just keep them. I'd rather hurt the future of the organization than admit I might not fleece the other GM in a significant deal", flip off the fanbase and then let the media carry his water with "Well you know, maybe it's Liberty Media". It's disgusting.

The irony though is that when you don't make the aforementioned obvious move, you look stupid.
I think 1) he's gun shy about bigger moves (whether FAs or trades) because of his experience in Toronto and 2) he's let the modest transactions that had big payoffs from 2021 go to his head. #1 is still absolutely no excuse for not moving Ozuna or Iggy though. That makes absolutely zero sense under any circumstance.
