I would say of course peaceful protest can work. I'm not sure that an entire nation peacefully protesting an oppressor has ever worked.

On the individual level, plenty of Palestinians are peaceful protesters. Hell, a lot of them aren't even protesters. They're under the rubble, just the same as the radical rebels.

I think the same can be said of the civil rights movement in america. MLKjr pursued non violent exposure to garner support by those largely unaffected by the issue.
