The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness my old friend

I can blame AA (assuming ownership doesn't care and/or Schuerholtz still doesn't have McGuirk's ear) for still employing him, but Snitker has to take some personal responsibility to protect players at some point. This old man "well, I don't know" persona is so gross and incompetent especially when everyone knows he's not going to be here, it makes me think lesser of him as a man. Like he's always been a bad manager, but this year (not that it matters) has ruined any good will he's had with me.
"It's just like, Ozzie [Albies] hit a ball into the dirt and it went in his eye," Snitker said. "I was worried that that was an oblique the way he reacted there. I don't know, it's just one of those things, you just have to deal with it. It's not fun dealing with it, not easy dealing with it, but you just have to."

I mean...woof.

Comparing dirt in someone’s eyes to an Achilles injury. Then saying he thought he suffered a rib injury when he has a foot injury.

Did he have a fall and suffer brain damage this offseason?

Wait a second, did Snitker imply he initially thought Acuna got dirt in his eye, then he thought it was an oblique? What? How does that make sense?

Does he legitimately have early on-set dementia???

It's amazing the stuff people say when they don't care and are just going through the motions. To an observation you made a few months ago, though...is he mailing it in because he knows he's leaving after the season, or is he mailing it in because he's leaving after the season and he doesn't want to? That's one thing to be done and checked out, but it's potentially quite another (and worse) to be done and checked out because you're being pushed out and you're spiteful about it.

And yeah, a foul ball that bounces and hits a guy in the guy is hardly the same thing as a situation where a player coming off an ACL surgery says "Hey, my leg is bothering me," then plays 2 more games, then has to come out of the game because it gets worse. So stupid.

My belief is they told him this was his last year, he wanted a contract extension, but he has no leverage because he's 70 and no one would hire him (plus probably doesn't want to uproot his family from a place he's called home for half a century even if he did get hired) so instead of being a man and retiring, he is pouting and doing a **** job. I'd imagine if it was his call he'd announce it and get a nice send off like Bobby.

Well he's talking about Ozzie with the dirt thing, but it's such an incoherent statement that I have no idea what sort of point he's trying to make.

Is he trying to say that he thought the injury was a lot worse when he first saw it but it later turned out to not be as serious? I don't really get it.

Either way, it's absolutely malpractice that Acuna told them it was sore and they didn't bother resting him. This isn't some 26th man on the roster you can replace with a quick call to AAA. This is your franchise player. And this a lost season.

You guys either don’t spend much time consuming Snit’s post game pressers, didn’t read the article or are just very filled with rage ha

He was mentioning ozzie getting dirt in his eye and thinking he (ozzie) had injured his oblique based on his reaction. He offered this random tangent to diffuse the Ronald news and cast a fishing line into the sea of all the injuries they are dealing with this season. A normal deflective response from him.

The second half of the comment is his poor attempt to answer the actual question in his version of coach speak. Ronald is hurt and that sucks but we just have to deal with it because we can’t do anything else.

All 3 I will see. I am filled with rage with Ronnie.

I guess I can see what he is trying to say that they dodged a bullet with Ozzie but Jesus he is so terrible with this.

I have a feeling the story is not over. He'll probably be described as doing all the right things in camp, then the games will come and he won't play much or at all and it'll be a topic again.
The drama will never be over but with the current pay for play structure there is no way for it ever to end.
As long as he is on the roster he is going to play heavy snaps. He gets paid to help us win football games. If we are honest with ourselves, he is better at his job than almost anyone else on the roster.

Alex Anthopoulus just acquired a 34 year old reliever with a career 5 ERA that has a 750K buyout next year and we gave up a prospect for him while 15 games under .500. This guy is awful

LOL. While this dude sucks, we didn't actually give up a prospect for him. We gave up Austin Smith who has an ERA over 5.00 in 5 minor league seasons as a reliever.

Bowman speculates this probably means multiple relievers will be heading out the door before the deadline tomorrow. This guy is probably just a warm body. But it should be noted that his Savant page is pretty intriguing and that Colorado is really tough for pitchers. Pierce Johnson also had a career ERA around 4.5 when we traded for him, and he turned out pretty good.
