A judge on Monday temporarily blocked the Trump administration from stripping some Medicaid funds from Planned Parenthood after Congress and President Donald Trump agreed to partially defund the nonprofit through passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

Judge Indira Talwani of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts said in her order partially granting a preliminary injunction that the bill unconstitutionally punishes Planned Parenthood member organizations that do not provide abortions.

The injunction will risk "at most minimal harm—financial or otherwise" to the Trump administration while the lawsuit proceeds, Talwani, an Obama appointee, wrote.

Looking in the Constitution for ANYTHING that gives the Judiciary any control whatsoever over the power of the purse. This is a blatant attempt to make the Judiciary the absolute head of all government. There are no checks and balances when a Judge can dictate what Congress can decide what to fund. THIS is authoritarianism writ large. The judge should be immediately impeached.

I just miss the days of Carson, Letterman, and Leno. They were pure entertainers for ALL Americans. Since then, the new hosts just stopped being funny. When a comedian makes a living observing life and pointing out the absurdities in all of us they will thrive. When a comedian starts out with a message and tries to find facts to ridicule in support of that message; they will become stale and boring. Comedy is its own message and needs no other.
The message I think it all boils down to is; we are ALL idiots: Carson especially could make fun of himself; I don’t think any of the current late night hosts have that level of honesty and humility

That's an awfully small under 50 percentage, especially for someone I would imagine is at least somewhat targeted at that demo.

I'd read something about late night network sponsorship dollars in general dropping by something like 50% over the last 7 years. I can only assume that's going to get worse.

The numbers are tiny. Between Fallon, Kimmel, and Colbert, less than 5 million total viewers nightly. Less than 450K viewers combined under 50.

Their viewers are old, white people. Old white people are the R base. Maybe if they actually appealed to their viewers, they wouldnt be hemorrhaging money...

I don’t think so. This wasn’t a normal case of a news program editing an interview by shorting the answers to fit the available broadcast time. This was blatantly cutting and pasting answers from different questions to make Kamala look coherent. CBS would have had a tough time showing that this was normal and didn’t constitute clear election interference over the public airwaves.
CBS may have won; but it would have been anything but „easy“.
My suspicion is that CBS was looking for any settlement to avoid discovery by Trump.

Going through CBS News‘ internal communications was going to show a whole lot more malice and malfeasance than what was in the single 60 minutes interview and they knew it.

its not like the billion dollars were going to only leave Trump with 16 million at the end of the day. so he took a big pay cut.

I guess we're going to have to put up with this until the Supremes get it and set these lower courts straight with another 6-3 decision

The average viewer is 68. Lol. I'm kinda sad late night is dead but have no interest in it basically since Leno took Conan's show back.
