The whole point is the offense has an advantage because they know when the snap is coming. The defense has an advantage because they can be moving and shifting up until the moment of the snap. This is going to hamstring defenses. I don't care for it. Is it just the SEC? Seems like we shouldn't be arbitrarily changing our rules without all leagues doing the same.

Rules folks catering to the offenses. But you can still shift and move. What no defender can do at or within a yard of the line of scrimmage is make any quick abrupt move toward the LOS nor clap or try to disrupt quarterback cadence. You can still creep to the line but you can’t run up real fast within a yard of the LOS. The rule is still stupid and sucks. Defense gets no breaks but they will survive. GBO

Numbers don’t lie. All games count. You can’t just pick and choose. Even the best teams beat up in the nobodies. Go look at OSU games against tough competition. Like I said your argument is invalid.

There used to be a highlight video of this game set to the song "It's a beautiful day." I loved it, but it seems to have disappeared (like a lot of our video do, weirdly.) If you have a copy or a link that I haved missed, please post it.

Cal was ranked 9th and favored, with the Vols at a lowly 23rd. Cal had a RB named Marshawn Lynch (if you've ever heard of him) and Cal started his Heisman campaign before this season opener in our (at that time) 109,000+ Neyland Stadium. It was a shellacking!

So no more going into the neutral zone and getting back before the snap, I guess

What about the big wins? In ‘24 held Bama to 17 (their 2nd lowest scoring game of the season), OU to 15, FL to 17 (tied for their worst scoring output for the season). What about holding other SEC teams to below their scoring averages?

Weird to pick out 5 bad losses spanning 2 seasons.

Who are the “elite” DCs? Based on your criteria of having bad games, not Oregon and their D staff (steamrolled by OSU in playoff). Not OSU - now PSU’s DC - bc they gave up 32!! to Oregon in regular season loss to Oregon. Not Kirby and his defensive prowess (gave up 41 to Bama, 31 to MSU, 42 to GT in ‘24). Not TX (gave up 30 to UGa @ home, 31 to ASU, 28 to OSU in ‘24).
