The Rosetta stone rules.July 15, 1799
One of the Top 10 Historical discoveries.
The discovery of the Rosetta Stone on July 15, 1799, marked a significant milestone in the understanding of ancient Egyptian civilization. Unearthed by a French soldier during Napoleon Bonaparte's campaign in Egypt, the stone features inscriptions in three scripts: Greek, hieroglyphics, and demotic, providing a key to deciphering the previously unreadable hieroglyphic writing. This basalt slab, measuring approximately 3 feet 9 inches by 2 feet 4.5 inches, became a crucial tool for scholars aiming to unlock the mysteries of ancient texts and culture.
The Rosetta Stone’s inscriptions include a decree celebrating the reign of Ptolemy V, which was written in a way that allowed researchers to compare the known Greek text with the unknown hieroglyphs. Although discovered in 1799, it took over two decades before hieroglyphics were successfully translated, thanks in large part to the efforts of scholars like Jean François Champollion and Thomas Young. Champollion's breakthroughs in understanding the phonetic aspects of hieroglyphics revived interest in Egyptology and opened the door to the study of ancient Egyptian history, culture, and language.
The stone eventually made its way to the British Museum, where it remains a focal point for Egyptological studies, symbolizing the intersection of cultural heritage and scholarly inquiry. Its discovery not only enhanced knowledge of ancient Egypt but also sparked continued interest in archaeological explorations and the preservation of Egyptian antiquities.

In the remake, they put a female in the lead role, set it in the Bronx, and she gets elected to Congress.Just rewatched Invincible. Great true story of a 30 year old part time bartender in Philly whose wife just left him because he was a broke loser( in her words). Played 1 year of high school football and made the team and played for the Philadelphia Eagles for 3 seasons
Great get for AP. I hope by Monday Sept. 4th y'all are selling "Hoosier Daddy" caps after the upset win, and Indiana is offering $800,000 for a revenge match.$400 K?
That's it?
According to a copy of a contract obtained by FBSchedules.com, Indiana has scheduled a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) opponent for the 2028 season. Indiana will host the Austin Peay Governors at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2028. The Hoosiers will pay the Governors a $400,000 guarantee for playing the game, per the copy of the contract.
The Indiana-Austin Peay game in 2028 will mark the first-ever gridiron meeting between the two schools.

Easy to say when we don't know what we have at QB. That is what most people will be saying. The question is: Will they be correct?Watching media days
Roman Harper and Jordan Rodgers just straight up declaring that we will be bad lol.
"Game just isn't as scary without Nico"
"Not the same Tennessee team"
Literally because captain overthrow, can't feel pressure or read a defense left?
Maybe the name that jumps out the most above is Josh Heupel. I think anyone would consider him a very good coach (he is 37-15 overall), but he doesn't exactly draw any "best in the game?" hype. He benefited from a positive situation at UCF, where he inherited a rising program from Scott Frost in 2019 and produced big ratings in his first couple of years on the job. But his average rating at Tennessee has been a solid 14.0 as well; the Volunteers had been up and down for years, but he has produced four top-20 SP+ ratings in a row and two top-10s in the past three years. He might not be getting the credit he deserves for that.
Rory has had plenty of tantrums of his own recently. Not a saint either. As long as things are going his way! They sell him as this mild mannered nice guy.
Watch him when shots go astray. When he starts cussing or throwing clubs, they immediately switch cameras.
If it was a lesser known player they would make an example of him. I know I’m in the minority but I just don’t like him.
