Originally being built as a replica German town, it’s very popular in October. I @ Joe and Windy because they’ve been there and may have some perspective to offer. How about Helen GA for an annibersary getaway with the wife? Heard it's nice but need personal advice. We don't play golf anymore, too old for lots of hiking & just want a quiet, pretty place.. Suggestions?
Helen is kinda like a mini Gatlinburg. They do have some cool shops in town, good restaurants, and putt putt and such. Depending on when, it could be crowded for octoberfest, and during winter they have hirse and buggy rides. Some nice places to rent in town on the river, and some nice cabins outside of town. There's some small hikes, but walking around town should be enough. Let me know if y'all decide to go that route! How about Helen GA for an annibersary getaway with the wife? Legal Sea foods is a great meal. The family and I are going to Boston in early October. Anyone that has been to Boston in recent years have recommendations on things to do or places to eat? I've done a little research, but aside from seeing Harvard and visiting some Freedom Trail sites, we don't have too much of an itinerary. My dad wants to go to Union Oyster House so I'm sure we'll do that 1 night.
We will technically be there for 4 days, but we only plan on being in the city for 2 of those days, as we want to go to Cape Cod for 1 day and go to Salem another day before driving up to Maine.
Any recommendations on Italian? Preferably not some upscale, trendy place. I mean like good old fashioned Italian that feels like Mob conducted some shady business deals in the back.Legal Sea foods is a great meal.
My favorite place near Boston Common is Democracy Brewing.
I usually quote the post I am replying to. I think it helps with communication. I failed on my post, and tried to edit, but couldn't add a quote.Exit: just realized you weren't asking me lol.
The Italian district is unique with vintage buildings converted to small restaurants. After dinner you go to a bakery for dessert - you’ll see a bunch of folks walking around with small white boxes. Best pizza I’ve ever had was in one of those small restaurants.Any recommendations on Italian? Preferably not some upscale, trendy place. And Chinese too. There are zero good Chinese places around here.
I hope you get to go"Effective July 9, the National Park Service will temporarily suspend 56-day advance reservations for USS Arizona Memorial tours due to ongoing preservation work on the USS Arizona. Maybe we'll get lucky and can get a ticket the day before. I don't know how many of those they'll have. I can't believe I'm finally going to Hawaii and may not get to pay my respects at the memorial.
