“But I got to stop wishin', got to go fishin' Down to rock bottom again Just a few friends, just a few friends” (pictures)

It's a nice spot. Used to be kind of a secret that only fishermen really knew about but they built a damn little parking lot and made the whole entrance down to the beach and through the trees much more accessible so the unfortunately it's packed with casuals these days.
I remember the first time I walked out on alligator point off St George island and there were people there. I was in wtf??? Mode when I realized the state park had built a road.

Sad day.

All the way up I95 to Jacksonville I kept trying to talk my wife into pulling over and fishing 😆

Going on an Alaskan cruise in September. Gonna try to target some coho while we're there. Last time I was there i didn't do any fishing so gotta make up for it this time. Bringing my travel rod too lol.
Goid luck, and take pictures! Never been up there, but my aunt and uncle went with their church for something. They had beautiful pictures, especially of the water.

Tl;dr, ngaf, stfu, eabod, bioya

Ive tolt this before but My Dad has been several times either hunting or fishing. He got stranded for a night hunting and made a video that he destroyed once he was safe. Actually thought he wasn't gonna make it.

But in the late 80's he went fishing with a small father and son outfit and had all the fish shipped back home by them.

When the fish ran low dad would call them and ask for certain items and when they had some of whatever it was they'd send it to him.

It got to be a regular thing for dad to order salmon for me and my brother about twice a year.

Then about 20 or 25 years ago they became a company called Great Alaska Seafood.

I still get stuff from them but not as often anymore because I'd go broke if I ordered as often as Id like.

Only way to get better is go there and catch it. They're good people too.

I think I'm gonna invest in a legit saltwater rod and some reel, something that'll hold up, and handle good fish. Looking at some penn spinners, may go to academy or bass pro soon. Also, I'll be working over this coming week to pay for it 😆

Get the Penn battle series. Get it off Amazon. It’s cheaper

Nothing wrong with Penns. The bulk of my saltwater rods and reels are penn, I have a couple fancier locally made custom ones with more expensive reels but I'm out there just about every weekend so I can justify it lol.

Battle IV is a good choice.
I'd keep an eye on Academy Sports. I picked up 2 6000 series combos, with the Battle series rod (9'; 2-piece) for 134.99 apiece a couple of months back.
Slice is correct for reel only, but you can get the combo for the same price as reel-only (or less) if you're patient.
They've run the combo again for that price at least once since I bought mine.

I have a couple of Battle IIIs, Battle IVs, Slammers, Fierces, and one Pursuit. I picked up a conventional Penn (one of the new models) in a level wind. I have it on a boat rod. I have an old skoo Penn level wind as well.
Edit: the new conventional Penn is a Rival level wind. I have it on a boat rod and will use it as a fighting rod for pin rigging as soon as I can get to the dam beach.

Joe, you might see if you can find one of the old Daiwa Coastal spinners (the silver one, late 90s). It's the smoothest reel I've ever used, and it's a tank. Any of the Black Gold spinners are an excellent choice.
