The Atlanta Braves - Hello darkness my old friend

Maybe. I don’t mind the dart toss with this season. But keeping him up after his performance and composure at his age is exile worthy.
Surely with the bullpen taxed last night? They send him down today to get an extra arm in the pen.

Cleveland's Tyler Naquin was the last to do so, against the Toronto Blue Jays on Aug. 19, 2016. The Phillies' Bob Dernier was the last to do so for a team trailing by multiple runs, against the Giants in 1989.

I get it was a a catcher, but still.

I do feel bad for the kid tho, that’s uncharacteristic for them to sacrifice a kids development like that and heads should roll for whoever said he was ready

You can get by with 97 in the minors, that’s dime a dozen, but you have to make them account for the off speed or nothing else matters. You can’t flash one out of every 4 or 5, that just won’t cut it

If you really want to get confused, go look at his minor league stats for this season

9 starts
39 IP
4.81 ERA

Unbelievable, terrible asset management from the top down. If you want to see what someone has got, then throw the college drafted 1st rounder from the 2023 draft you paid overslot too. Not the 19-year-old, 75K bonus kid that has 25 innings above A ball

34 walks/hbp in 77 innings definitely screams ready

The BB Rate was fine. It was right at 3 BB/9 over 3 levels this season. That's better than average. ERA isn't the greatest judge either since minor league defenses can be notoriously awful at times. But certainly his performance in the majors proves he wasn't close to ready. I see the logic of letting talented pitchers find out how to get hitters out at the ML level, especially in a lost season. But you also don't want to shatter a kids confidence. There's a fine line there and clearly the Braves have reached it.

I'd rather Waldrep be up here getting shellacked every week. I really wouldn't worry about shaking his confidence. He's most likely a future reliever anyways.

And you might as well see what WIles and Daniels have to give at the ML level at this point. Not exactly like you're losing anything there either. Let's see Ian Mejia too. Or Burkhaulter, Or Braun.

There are plenty of options of older pitchers doing relatively well at AA or AAA.

His stuff+ is off the charts, he has 3 ++ pitches and he’s logically the 2nd best starting pitcher available in the organization. Believe it or not, they’re trying to win. I don’t mind giving him a shot but it’s gone on too long at this point.

Unfortunately he’s still better than elder and we have another opening after that. Team needs 3 starters and has made zero moves. Fold it in.

Not even trolling, does your eyes tell you he has 3 plus pitches right now currently??

Of people who should be sent to AA, Fuentes may not even be in the top 5!

Let’s talk about ozhaino albies

Playing Michael Harris for defense? Maybe not

Ozzie's statcast data has actually improved from what is was a month ago, believe it or not. EV is improving. Bat speed is improving. I'm still inclined to believe the struggles are wrist related and he's still regaining strength.

That’s great! His .492 OPS over the last month sure is encouraging!
