Libertarian principals? Like having the gov't go into business as competition against business owners? Like taxing the rich/white neighborhoods heavier--i.e. targeted distribution of wealth? And you don't see a connection between that and his communist rhetoric from a few years ago?Hopefully by helping make things more affordable, in part through libertarian principles of cutting red tape in addition to the socialist things people focus on. Certain things (including groceries) are f***ing expensive here
Very libertarian of him. Those can more accurately be described as shifting the property tax burden to more expensive neighborhoods, a rent freeze on rent-controlled apartments which has been done here a few times already, and a pilot program of like 5 grocery stores to compete with the current (again, expensive, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are the "cheap" end) ones.
I don't know if it will work but I'm not surprised his focus on affordability resonated, and he is also a very good speaker
Nash is sadly, quite naive. Well intentioned in his mind, but naive. He's obviously never learned historyLibertarian principals? And for the record, I have a few questions that you haven't answered.
If David Duke ran for mayor without mentioning race, you'd give him the benefit of the doubt?
If Trump had run in this most recent election with liberal promises, you'd have given him the benefit of the doubt?
I ask because, as you accuse others of having discussed in "bad faith", I suspect you're actually just smuggling in some special pleading for this guy.
If you can't tell the difference between this attempted gotcha garbage where you intentionally miss the point repeatedly and my conversations with everyone else the last couple of pages, you may be beyond help as far as bad faith is concernedLibertarian principals? I've asked repeatedly for you to clarify. You don't seem capable or interested. EXACTLY how am I misrepresenting the point? If you can't tell the difference between this attempted gotcha garbage where you intentionally miss the point repeatedly and my conversations with everyone else the last couple of pages, you may be beyond help as far as bad faith is concerned
So you'll be voting against him now, right? I mean you're going to tolerate such racist, divisive ideas? That was buried in a hard-to-find policy memo that got highlighted after he won, very few of his voters had probably even seen that before so most of the above is nonsensical
I didn't say him being a good speaker made me like him, I said it is a factor in his victory and his chances in November which is objectively true

Yes, stupid people are easily influenced. This guys says words in a way that I like. Durrrrr
I don't know or care but I think it is pretty weird for others to suggest his politics are defined by some video from 5 years ago rather than his actual platform that he campaigned on and people voted for
Buried or protected? That was buried in a hard-to-find policy memo that got highlighted after he won, very few of his voters had probably even seen that before so most of the above is nonsensical

Apparebtly, he's gone from being a communist to being a libertarian (who wants racist, targeted redistribution of wealth, and the gov't going into private business as competition against the populace, to be supported by the tax moneys of those the gov't competes with, from policies/funds that do not actually exist). His election “platform” is different. The claim is that he too is now different.
So the question, imo, is which do you assess as more likely?
- Mamdani has moderated his core beliefs
or
- Mamdani has moderated his messaging
Have we entered going to back churches phase yet?Apparebtly, he's gone from being a communist to being a libertarian (who wants racist, targeted redistribution of wealth, and the gov't going into private business as competition against the populace, to be supported by the tax moneys of those the gov't competes with, from policies/funds that do not actually exist).
He said whiter because he knew it would excite the racist base of the dems in NYC like yourself. You'd rather punish white people than do what's best for you. He knows the numbers and the idiotic white guilt prevalent in dem cities.
It's an idiotic idea to begin with. How was he going to pay for them? I know he said...
You have to pay attention to the content and read between the lines, not just focus on the delivery. You're easily influenced.
Correct, I am not interested in conversations with people who can't go any length of time without cramming as many bad faith strawmen as they can into one post. You were fake surprised when I said that a couple days ago and appear to be doing the same fake surprise routine again multiple times today. No one but you had a problem understanding my point instead of engaging in ridiculous theatrics about the grand wizard of the KKKI've asked repeatedly for you to clarify. You don't seem capable or interested. EXACTLY how am I misrepresenting the point?
