Movies you've seen recently II

“Black bag.” I thought it was good. A contemporary spy thriller.

I took my kids to see How To Train Your Dragons. It was pretty good It stuck true to the original for the most part. The dragons didn't look super fake. I can see them making another one.

"Office Space", Ron Livingston 1999, HULU
About the fifth time I've watched it.
I was a consultant to manufacturing companies in the 80s-90s. I was fortunate to work with a lot of good people who were similar to the people in this movie.
As a federal employee office space is an uncanny spot on prediction of how work life is in 2025.

Ballerina: John Wick.

8/10.

at first they were doing a really good job keeping it a separate story, set in the same world, but there ends up being a lot of overlap which raises a lot of questions, to me.

they introduced a new side to the "john wick universe" which was nice. good depth. only real question is if they are planning a bunch of similar one offs, or if each new option is going to be a series.

good action, still pretty good gun-fu. Not as clean as John Wick, but they make it clear she isn't on his level, so it makes sense. I was glad to see they were able to make a movie enjoyable without relying on constant power-creep.

throw in a couple more bits: they did a good job not making it some woke nonsense women empowerment men are evil type of movie. the main bad guy is a guy, but the men vs women aspect doesn't show up at all. its also not the typical femme-fatale set up. and still has some good dry humor.

the more I am thinking about it, I am bumping it up. Lower end of the John Wick scale for me, but definitely a good movie, and I wouldn't resist paying to see it again.

I just finished the Accountant 2. A fun mix of action and comedy. I liked it better than the original.

I finished it, but I struggled. Definitely liked the first better.

Guess I'll give Warfare another shot. Only got about 25 minutes in before I gave up.

I see a lot of people on here say that only get a few minutes into a movie and "give up" and I don't get that. Before I watch any movie I do research and read multiple reviews, and then I decide if I want to watch, and if I do then I'm committed. So are y'all just going in blind and decide you don't like it? There are a lot of movies that the first act or 30 minutes is slow or just sucks but then it picks up. Interstellar is one of my favorite movies ever and the first 30 minutes is a snooze fest.

Not trying to be an ass, just seems weird to me.

I start all kinds of movies I don’t know about but rarely don’t finish. The only one I recall not finishing was the Netflix Gal Gadot movie recently. Too hokey.
