Confess, I had to look that up. Tried to watch that movie once, but the kid was such a backtalking brat in the beginning, I started rooting for the criminals.

But what I missed was the name of the other criminal: Harry Lyme! That's Orson Wells' character in what most regard as the best British movie ever made, The Third Man.
That’s some good trivia

LOL--I'm so backwards in my movie tastes that "Movies from the '90s" is trivia for me! I had to google up a list, and still had only seen maybe 12 movies from that entire decade (and most because of my wife).

I just pitched an event for our local Silver Screens Society to present a dozen or more opening scenes from classic movies for group discussion. I've offered it as a summer school class in the past, and do it monthly for some very bright oldsters who needed more mental stimulation than their regular activities were providing.

Every man alive needs at least one (1) Ana de Armas in their crappy life.

Tell me 5 of your all time favorite movies

Yes. Back when "sex kittens" could still play wholesome roles believably! She really challenged and brought out Elvis' best performance (among his non-serious movies).
The way the movie industry used Elvis was atrocious. (imo) They made him look so dumb.

Dang! That's tough! How about limiting it to a genre?

But I can tell you my "guilty pleasure" movie (not esteemed by critics as a truly great movie): the original "The Big Sleep" (1946), starring Bogie and Bacall.

Aside from its sterling credentials--directed by Howard Hawks, screenplay by (the) William Faulkner and Leigh Brackett, taken from a novel by Raymond Chandler--the plot is so perplexing that even Raymond Chandler wasn't sure it actually made sense. But that's what makes it repeatedly watchable for me--plus, all those cool film noir detective bits.

It's also filled with subtle humor that's easily missed the first viewing. In this early scene, Bacall wants to learn what Bogie and her father were talking about in the (hot & humid) greenhouse. The butler is so good.

Another thing I love about these old movies is how creatively they had to handle sex, back when every line had to clear the Hays Office censors. In this meeting, after they finish some business, they have an X-rated sex conversation... about "betting on horses."

It really was a shame! Elvis could act.

From what I've read, the movie choices were more The Colonel's doing. Elvis had acting chops, and producer Hal Wallis recognized it. But The Colonel played to his own strengths, which were promoting flash & sizzle to the masses and rubes.

Yeah, I keep forgetting the control the "Colonel" had over Elvis's career signed contract.
In 1960, Elvis was in the movie "Flaming Star" which I remember going to see as a little kid. I've also seen it several times on TV once in a blue moon too. I really enjoyed this movie at the time & wished they had made more of them with him being in them.

In 1969, Elvis was in another western movie named "Charrol" which I went to see at the picture show. I enjoyed this one too bc it wasn't another dumb stupid song & dance movie. I wish they had made him some spy movies like they did w/Dean Martin 's career.

Cool story I think you'll like:

Dean Curley accounted for 25% of the entire team’s errors this year. Just let that sink in…
Numbers can be skewed too.
I recently got a shout out in a sales meeting because my numbers on a certain product were up like 120%

If they actually dug a little deeper, they’d see that I sold like 7 cases this month as opposed to 3 last month...

Of course I just kept my mouth shut and took my praise, humbly of course.
😎

My point being, we tend to always just look at the bottom line a lot of times.

I looked him up during my time in Blue. 😂 And saw him play and win a lot. I saw Betts come on strong in the playoffs. And Ohtani and the whole gang. It was pretty fun.
Betts has been one of the best players too. All three are MVP caliber players. Worst decision the Red Sox ever made.

Freddie is in a horrible slump at the plate. Hasn't homered in over a month and striking out way more than normal, believe he is overthinking it..
He would go through some slumps in Atlanta too but then he would regroup after the All Star break and go on a tear in August. Usually whenever the weather heats up, his bat heats up also.

Yes you have to go by fielding % and I know he was one of the lowest. 25% of the total number doesn't tell the story of number of opportunities.
2025: 180 chances and 17 errors (.906 fielding %)

2024: 230 chances and 15 errors (.935 fielding %)

2 year career: 410 chances and 32 errors (.922 fielding %)

No matter how you look at it he has sucked in the field on defense. It’s embarrassing as a starting SEC player. Ahuna only had 7 errors in 2023, Lawson had 10 errors in 2022, Spence had 4 errors in 2021. The standard was set and he hasn’t lived up to it in back to back seasons.

MLB team can put him in the outfield.. Curley could play a corner outfield position.
