Always thought Bernie was leaving money on the table with his number, if you’re asking for $15 ask for $20. If you’re asking for $30 ask for $50.So why Just a $30 minimum wage for NYC? If he REALLY wants to have a living minimum wage; why not make it $3000 an hour? Then everyone would be rich! Right? Right?
Why so stingy mister (probable) Mayor?
I think the majority of those mayors congressman and those big cities love screaming about defunding the police. In reality we know it will not happen, but it can't help the police who are on the ground knowing they have a leader who hates themthere was a "defund the police" idea mentioned somewhere. I don't know if it was a proposal or just a notion to enthuse the voters, but it is connected to the dude.
Just wait until they start losing more and more of their largest taxpayer individuals and companies. Raising spending whilst simultaneously losing revenue is always a recipe for disaster.Good luck keeping budget deficits at bay. NYC doing a good job of not overspending but it will be a challenge to remain in that pattern with these proposals.
Defund the police is a catch-all phrase and it doesn't mean the same thing to all people. Some literally do want to disband the police. Others want to defund their military-type gear and weapons. And others are wanting to defund them as first responders when there is a mentally or emotionally unstable person who needs intercession.I think the majority of those mayors congressman and those big cities love screaming about defunding the police. How is being a Muslim "not recognizing God" lolNormally humanists or pagans that do not recognize God seem to become their own God so they decide what is right and wrong. This guy he'll never wait in line for a surgery he'll never wait in line for food he'll not have to worry about rents. He'll make everybody else suffer but he will never
It's the reality. The inability to account for human behavior in response to tax policy is why tax projections never materialize.Just wait until they start losing more and more of their largest taxpayer individuals and companies. Raising spending whilst simultaneously losing revenue is always a recipe for disaster.
This won't happen. The idea that taxing the rich will ruin x city or x country is perhaps the most effective propaganda that rich people have used to convince poorer people to vote against their own interests. We're ballooning our own deficit just so rich people don't have to pay taxes, and MAGA is in favor of that.Lol. Here come the social workers again. There aren’t enough mental health workers to remotely cover nyc and it wouldn’t make a difference regardless. When all the “maga” billionaires leave we know what happens next.
I don't know if the idea is good or not but I am in favor of it being tested. Social workers are better educated than the average police officer. They have more training on how to connect people in need with resources. On the surface, that is a better option than simply carting off people to jail.Lol. Here come the social workers again. There aren’t enough mental health workers to remotely cover nyc and it wouldn’t make a difference regardless. When all the “maga” billionaires leave we know what happens next.
"ruin" is the operative word. Once the tax base is gone, services, infrastructure, etc all suffer. Tourism would likely keep NYC well funded in spite of losing the very wealthy. But that only happens if tourists feel safe. This won't happen. The tax base doesn't leave, though. NYC has increased taxes on millionaires twice recently and ended up with more millionaires and more revenue each time"ruin" is the operative word. There's a reason that even its proponents don't use it anymore. It was horrible marketing from the very beginning.Defund the police is a catch-all phrase and it doesn't mean the same thing to all people. Some literally do want to disband the police. I possess no knowledge to contradict your claims. But there is a point where the juice is no longer worh the squeeze. People choose to live where they do for all sorts of reasons. Expense is one of the factors. The weathly have access to resources which provide a lot of choices (remote work, transportation, etc). If the golden geese are killed, and the revenue is not made up, it will eventually have an impact. The tax base doesn't leave, though. Agreed. It's unfortunate. I think the OG was replace police with other first responders in certain situations. But then the phrase was used in other contexts and it stuck. Now it is poorly defined and is polarizing. There's a reason that even its proponents don't use it anymore. It was horrible marketing from the very beginning.
