'26 MS LB TJ White (Tennessee commit)

Inge had an insane 2025 cycle. He’s prob our best recruiter on staff with Ekeler now gone. I fully thought Gass was going to UGA. He pulled Perlotte back from his west coast soul searching period. Then flipped one of Bama’s legit LB commits in Harmon.

I expect more of the same from he and Chop in the next few weeks.
I think Chop was responsible for many of “Ekeler’s” recruits. He couldn’t officially get credit for it since he wasn’t an on field coach at the time though.

With Inge, Chop and Garner, the first two levels on defense could be stacked for seasons to come. Martinez is no slouch either.

Idk, you ever meet Coach Ek? Dude was like 3 Red Bulls in at any given moment. Lots of energy and charisma. He was an excellent recruiter, position coach, and ST coordinator.

Chop at the time was kinda CRG’s avatar on the road. With him being promoted that role may fall to Marion Hobby now. Not sure how it’s gonna work but I have confidence in them.

Think those areas have better support. Martinez seems to want to evaluate lower tier guys, instead of chase higher rated guys.

He isnt a great recruiter, nor is KP.

Time to get asses in gear.

WM earned another year with the transfers he brought in and what he got out of Brooks.

Pope, if he doesn’t land Keys and the WR class is underwhelming as a result, and the on-field play doesn’t also improve?… he may be on the hottest seat rn.

You are speaking purely from your own perspective. Don't assume that's everyone's perspective. Pope has had material success as a coach and recruiter to this point. There's zero reason he would be on any proverbial hot seat.

Brooks was a Tim Banks deal.

Pope hasn't done a thing. He shows up.

Agree wholeheartedly, it's make or break.

No one wants to leave to get on a plane, its uncomfortable, its long hours. If it were fun everyone would do it.

However, its the job.

Rickey Gibson, Boo Carter, and Jermod McCoy comprised one of the best CB sets in the SEC last year. Refusing to credit WM for that is just being willfully obtuse.

I’m just going off what someone on staff said. Said Garner coached the ends/edges as well and that Ekeler mostly coached ST. I know what their titles are/were but that’s what the person said. I liked Ekeler’s energy.

He was a redbull and a decent coach but was not a great recruiter. We upgraded. You don’t have to believe it but it’s true.

I mean since Heupel took over it's been the best room on the roster over the years. Byron Young, Pearce, Josephs, Herring, Ross. CRG's coaching is the main thing that took us back to a high level so I'd never minimize it, but he doesn't go on the road. If Chop is the one who deserves credit, great, all the better for us. Until he puts together a couple of classes we frankly won't know if we upgraded. Results vs trust me bro, honestly.

Chop was always the recruiter for LEOs

Chop did the recruiting heavy lifting and elk never coached the LB’s. He was the ST coach only. Every recruit in D the last couple of years raved about Chop not E. He’s already got the results and why he got the opening and the opening was made by encouraging Elk to move on. I waste my time here. Believe what you want.

But I thought that was against the rules, as he wasn't an "on-field coach".

Jk, I really don't care who does the heavy lifting as long as it gets done. Not really seeing the elite LEO for this class we've pretty much been getting every year, but it's early yet. Good news is there's really been no change, so there should be no drop off.

JacketVol, why so abrasive?

From my understanding, an analyst could not do off-campus recruiting or partake in visit events (photoshoots, taking the players somewhere downtown, etc) when it comes to recruiting. They can be in the facility tho. Now the NCAA just changed the rule for coaches who can go on the road to a set number of coaches per team and that was why Chop was on the road some before getting promoted, so Ekeler legally had to be involved with maintaining the relationship. Promoting him to an on-field coach frees him up to run his own show on his own. Probably not able to say on the technical details of it all, but based on what I've read before, that is my understanding of analysts when it comes to recruiting

My concern losing Eck is not recruiting or Leo coaching, but special teams. Hopefully that doesn’t drop off because he was a really good special teams coach.
