Because the big cities have way too much sway in the politics of the nation as a whole. At least IMO.

To sum it up the only thing many fear is the death of self dependence and individuality and the rise of dependence on government. I just don't trust the government and want them in my life as little as possible.

I'm listening to CNN just now it was mentioned the people being tired of how expensive New York is. Do they really believe socialist policy via government is the answer? It just doesn't make sense to me.
