I donât think anything weird happened at all. Seems to me like just AP made an incorrect assumption that local kid + Rodney Garner effect + competition being lower level schools = Vol lock.
As you might imagine heâs getting grilled about it on TOS. These are some of his responses:
âTold me he just felt like it was the best place for him. Apparently almost didnât come on his visit to Tennessee last weekend because he wanted to go ahead and commit to South Florida then but was convinced to take the visit.â
âSchools like USF and Cincy have money nowâŚthey are willing to offer more to players like Garcia that they see as the key to their class.â
âRodney spent a ton of time last weekendâŚjust felt more comfortable at south Florida and again for USF they viewed him as a marquee piece to their class.â
Sounds like it's shaping up to be a rough couple of months for the Negas that love nothing more than complaining about our coaching staff's recruiting.Swoop for this kid and his teammate, TJ White looks imminent. Both will be in Starkville on Friday the 20th. I presume to tell the staff in person theyâve both decided to commit to Tennessee. GBO.
That's kind of crappy though, just ruins the kids moment if he's announcing any time soon. Seems to me most folks just play conservative with the confidence as a show of respect. Maybe I'm way off here I don't know. Happy the kid is gonna be ours though, no doubt. Ready to boooom!Crystal balled to the good guys by Steve Robertson (Miss. St. Insider) with a confidence of 9. Load em!
Why would you think we wouldnât have taken both. The kid made a decision and chose his path. No reason to think TN backed off or there was some mysterious factor.Iâm not sure. Why wouldnât we take both? Something weird happened there. You donât choose USF over Tennessee. So did we back off? If so, why? I thought Garber loved him.
