I would make a joke about wrestlers, but probably bad taste given the circumstances.
he probably never started out with full blown molestation or rape. built up to it, and if it was ongoing for long there was probably an atmosphere of acceptance amongst the various teams/victims. he probably didn't rape/molest all of them either, whichever ones pushed back against the early "innocent" moves, he probably let go so as to not rock the boat.
or worked some manipulation, like a guy coming off an injury needs to get back into the game, well maybe Dr. Touchy needs 5 minutes of turn your head and cough to approve you for play this week, otherwise it will be next month. or some borderline player/walk on who doesn't have much status.
maybe its like an initiation thing. frats were doing it for a long time to until finally someone was like "hm, this is bad, maybe we shouldn't do it". honestly a lot of the admin and coaches who heard about it was probably in the same mindset. "Eh the guy who was here before you went thru the same thing, but he didn't complain."
unfortunately there is a lot that slips thru the cracks for various reasons. social media isn't making us worse, its just highlighting how bad things actually have been for a long time.
