No Obama wasn't selling the phones, he was giving them away in exchange for votes. Watch the video. The similarities are Presidents and cell phones. Trump(Actually his sons) are selling them as a business(I won't buy one and that's my choice). Obama was giving away tax payer funded phones for votes. The lady in the video says she is voting for Obama because he gives her free phones. There are many other videos out there with voters saying the same and thus there were soon known as Obama phones.

We could also talk about another President's son who used cell phones differently but this is a family site and those pictures that Hunter Biden took with his cell phone while using meth and seeing prostitutes aren't really appropriate for this site. Hunter also used his cell phone when he famously told the Chinese to pay him immediately because he is sitting next to his father and things will get bad if they don't get their money ASAP. I can't remember if Ashley Biden's cocaine snorting video was taken by a cell phone so I'll leave that one out of the discussion. Shall we continue exploring history of cell phones and Presidents and their family?

Reagan started the program to provide low income households connectivity via landlines. Bush expanded it to include cell phones. Obama grew the program immensely and included the internet. So yes, Reagan gave away some rotary phones and Bush gave out flip phones. Obama tripled the size of the entitlement and was pretty surgical about getting votes for the dems out of it using the fund that was paid for with fees on phone bills. Kind of a regressive tax on the middle class that received no benefits for their contributions.
