I don't view the video as you suggest. That said, if protestors are blocking the street and have been told to disperse and refuse to do so there are only so many options and tear gas is probably the best option. As for the person "slammed to the ground" the video provides zero context for anything said person might have done to potentially merit a response.

We can muse about how we got here but here we are and simply ignoring illegal behavior doesn't solve anything.

It's an overreaction to the underreaction of the prior 4 years. One doesn't happen without the other. We have horrible people that came into this country who should have never been here. That isn't deniable. I don't condone the raids like we saw in my mother's neighborhood in South Nashville but it's a direct result of Biden's failed policy. You can't lambast Trump without lambasting Biden for setting the table.

Edit to add: I also think the mayor was absolutely wrong for outing members of federal immigration enforcement.

If you encounter someone who is not a citizen, has no record of entry with passport, and cannot produce a passport you (by default) have someone here illegally.

What if they say they're a citizen but they're not though? Or what if they're a citizen but don't have proof handy? That's what verification's about and it might take a while.

My screenshot says that ICE will accept a SSN and driver's license as proof. Apparently, they'd rather let the odd illegal go in a street encounter, as opposed to taking a US citizen into custody.

You're completely off the reservation. People are responsible for their actions. It isn't our crappy government. And those people have a protected right to protest. But that isn't good enough. They go too far by impeding traffic.
