President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

You're in the weeds on this.
First, the tech to reconcile the valid passport to person exists globally. All persons entering the US even on visas must have a passport..at least that is my understanding. This is the first and easiest step which requires no judicial proceedings. Evaluation of visa, refugee, and other status can be done through the courts if necessary.
The people we are targeting have no passport scanned upon entry, or no passport at all.
It's a quick and effective first step.
My point was that it takes longer to verify the status of a suspected illegal inside the U.S. than it does someone going through passport control. Most of what you just wrote agrees with that. I don’t think we’re discussing folks arriving at airports and other immigration checkpoints, but those already here.

As long as they are only used to protect federal facilities and employees; they are not technically participating in law enforcement duties. It appears that is what the National Guard has been doing at least so far.
Were those National Guard troops insufficient .... or is the deployment of 700 Marines just for show?

Serious Question :

Has Donald Trump invoked the Insurrection Act? Because the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 prohibits federal troops from performing law enforcement duties on American soil, unless he has.

Even if there is some way around the Posse Comitatus Act, this is an extraordinary use of active-duty Marines.
Are you talking about Marines From what I've heard, trump has ordered them to be stationed as site-protection to allow law enforcement to go do law enforcement. IOW, from what I've heard from local law enforcement, the Marines aren't actually doing law enforcement.

Choice three….they are being pre staged as a deterrent and to be available IF needed. Better to have them there not needed than to need them and they not be there.
That is a ridiculous use of United States Marines. The National Guard would have been sufficient for the duties which you are describing. It's made-for-television overkill.

It is all grand theater for sure. Just like the „grass roots“ protests were staged for television.
But if they want to play for high stakes, the feds just called their bluff. So do the rioters fold or double down?

I have an assumptive position in opposition to yours. My assumption is the process for verification...a simultaneous passport scan combined with facial recognition can be used remotely as effectively as it is at points of entry. If that assumption is correct, there is no difference in the efficiency of that procedure. AND, it should serve as the logical starting point for separating those who need deportation from those who need further evaluation.

He’s talking about persons granted actual legal status (under Biden), that have now had that status revoked (under Trump).

They didn’t enter illegally. They were made illegal by a change in policy.

At least that’s how I read it 🤷‍♀️
Yes I know that forest.
But
They have been determined to be illegal by the process therefore if they did not leave they are in fact still breaking the law and are here illegally.

I was just engaging him the way he does everyone elsetmp.gif

It's all for show and has the potential to go very badly. This is good, small government in action. Pwning the libs by militarizing their cities.

We need more immigrants. As important, we need the right type of immigrants. Our current system is driven by politics. It isn't driven by best-practices.
When one political group swings too far in one direction, the other swings too far in the other. This is where we are right now.
People here illegally should be deported. The only "due process" necessary is confirmation or refutation of their immigration status. It takes less than 5 seconds.
But none of what came before or what is happening now is improving our immigration system in the long term.
Here are the actions of the past administration and how far the pendulum swung and where the current administration is working from:

Biden (or someone else) opened the border floodgates;
Allowed unvetted immigration from all points on the planet to the US interior;
Flew immigrants to almost every city, town, county, and hut in the US, frequently in the dead of night;
Encouraged state and local officials to roll out the welcome mat with funding for every human need;
All this while running massive deficits, hot inflation, and our entitlement programs threatening bankruptcy,

Now, the current administration is/has been fighting non-stop obstruction to every attempt to rectify this problem that is an obvious threat to the nation's economy and security.
