In the 1971 Gene Hackman movie "The French Connection" they made a scene in that movie where they completely tore apart a Caddy & then replaced everything that was done to it so it looked like it hadn't been touched. They went over that car w/a fine tooth comb to get the evidence needed. That scene blew my mind back then.

Officiating in general is too timid and fearful when decisiveness and immediate action is called for in cases like that. But then quick on the draw to eject anyone who responds, compounded the first error with a second error. It's bad for sports and they're going to get people hurt.

Flag the first offender on the spot and players will knock it off. Waiting for a response to penalize both parties is chicken and cowardly.
