Millions of Illegal Aliens From All Over The World Head For U.S. Border

The “big beautiful bill” passed by the U.S. House on May 22 includes a 5% tax on money non-citizens send to their home countries.

The tax will hit illegal immigrants, according to House leaders, but also will apply to guest workers in the country legally on work permits. The USDA estimates 40% of farmworkers are in the country illegally. The tax will apply to other types of workers.

The tax will amount to a pay cut, National Council of Agricultural Employers CEO Michael Marsh said. “It may put added pressure on the wage rate to cover the cost of the tax,” he said. The bill, officially titled the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” passed the House, 215-214. All 212 Democrats and two Republicans voted “no.” The bill now goes to the Senate.

Workers in the U.S. remit billions of dollars each year to other countries. India and Mexico are the leading recipients. The Inter-Development Bank, which finances projects in Latin America and the Caribbean, estimated workers sent $161 billion to those regions in 2024.

An estimated $65 billion was sent to Mexico. The Mexican government issued a press release condemning the tax. “This initiative has no justification for it, and we disagree with it,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Juan Ramon de la Fuente said. “We will pursue the strongest defense, both politically and legally, because we believe this U.S. revenue-raising measure should not affect a significant and vulnerable portion of our compatriots,” he said.

The tax was included in a section of the bill that called for tightening restrictions on illegal immigrants receiving public benefits. Under the bill, businesses transferring funds would be obligated to collect the tax, unless it verified the sender was a U.S. citizen or born in a U.S. territory. Marsh said remittances to Mexico and elsewhere allow families to invest at home, reducing the motivation to come to the U.S. illegally.

The tax, he said, “may encourage more irregular immigration,” he said. There is evidence that remittances to other countries lead to economic development, rather than just an increase in consumption, according to a study by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

Grok:

The "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on May 22, 2025, includes a 3.5% tax on remittances sent from the U.S. to Mexico by non-U.S. citizens, down from an initially proposed 5%. This tax targets non-commercial money transfers, such as those sent by immigrants to support family abroad, and is expected to generate $22.2 billion from 2026 to 2034. Mexico, receiving about $65 billion annually in remittances from the U.S., would be significantly impacted, with estimates suggesting a $2.3 billion economic hit.

Critics, including Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum, call it discriminatory, arguing it burdens low-income migrants and could drive remittances to informal channels like cryptocurrencies or black-market services, undermining financial transparency. Supporters claim it funds domestic priorities like border security, including $46.5 billion for Trump’s border wall. The bill awaits Senate approval, with a vote expected by late June or July 2025

The 3.5% remittance fee is too low. Should be higher.

Luka Doncic is paying close to 40% federal taxes. He's paying another 13% in California. He's paying state and local taxes when the Lakers play road games.

Are we saying he needs to pay another 3.5% to send money back to Europe?

I think anyone with a green card or legal permit should be able to send post tax money anywhere. If you are an illegal though and can’t prove you are in the country legally I can see a 15 percent tax to send money. Honestly maybe even 20.

Not a hill I would die on though. Fix the border and immigration system and it’s a non issue.

Because this could be a deterrent to less illegal immigration requiring assistance from the government yielding a smaller government.

Woke reporter denies there are riots and looting in LA while chaos unfolds behind him

A local TV reporter in Los Angeles questioned whether the city's violent unrest qualified as rioting - even as a fire burned behind him live on the air.

ABC7 reporter Tim Caputo insisted that the 'vast majority' of protestors involved in the demonstrations were 'people taking videos [and] people waving flags' during his one-the-ground report.

He made the remarks as black smoke billowed into the air behind him and a loud explosion could be heard in the distance.

During the segment, ABC7 anchor Jory Rand asked whether those responsible for torching five vehicles were 'a group that splintered off,' 'mak[ing] it look like it's a lot worse than the situation actually playing out on the ground.'

'That's the quintessential question when you have rallies, demonstrations, riots, if you will,' Caputo replied.

'I wouldn't go as far to call it that. I know president Trump had tweeted about riots and looting - I don't know that I would characterize it that way.'

As the broadcast showed aerial images of cars on fire, Caputo directed his cameraman away from rising smoke.

'From what we've seen... the vast majority are people taking videos, people waving flags, people walking around, people wanting to be part of the cause, wanting to have their voices heard, and wanting to show the power of numbers and the power of force,' the reporter said.

Gavin Newsom is mercilessly mocked for posting 'war room' photo during LA riots

California Governor Gavin Newsom is under fire for posting a 'war room' style photo of officials meeting while Los Angeles was being torched by rioters.

Rioters looted downtown businesses, blocked off a major freeway, set self-driving cars on fire and wreaked havoc on the city.

Newsom, however, was meeting with state emergency officials, LA police and the LA County Sheriff's Department as the chaos unfolded.

Sharing a photo of the meeting on social media, he said authorities had gathered to 'respond to protests provoked by chaos from Washington'.

The Democrat further blamed the president for the riots, saying: 'We're here to keep the peace - not play into Trump's political games.'

Migrant Pickpocket Crew nabbed working the crowd at NYC Governor’s Ball Festival: police

A crew of migrant pickpockets was nabbed plying their trade at the Governor’s Ball Festival in Queens — and all three are back on the streets, according to police and court records.

Police responded to the three-day music festival at Flushing Meadows Corona Park on Friday night on reports of stolen phones, where eagle-eyed cops spotted the three Colombian immigrants — including one woman who was caught grabbing a phone out of the victim’s purse, law enforcement sources said.

Three migrants — Maritza Cortes Palomo, 35, Windi Paola Mendoza Echeverry, 34, and Maria Mendoza, 30 — were arrested at the park and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, an NYPD spokesperson said Sunday.

One of the migrants had four phones tucked in her waistband when she was arrested, sources said.

After Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) has been teasing since Sunday night that he would sue the Trump administration and even dared Tom Homan to arrest him, California Attorney General Rob Bonta did just that on Monday afternoon. Chaos over the weekend from anti-ICE, pro-illegal immigrant riots, with even pro-terrorist chants, necessitated President Donald Trump sending in the National Guard. It was a move that Newsom was none too pleased with.
