We aren't trading Sale. We might trade Murphy, Ozuna, and anyone else on an expiring contract.
We should absolutely trade Sale. His age and he's obviously not in the long term plans make it obvious.
We need young hitters and he would bring back a potentially good one or two
He would be an excellent addition to a contending team and we aint going anywhere
Sure except he was willing to enter this season with ZERO reliable pitchers.Maybe we should trade Sale. I see the logic in doing that.
But there is no question that we are still planning on competing in 2026. So there is probably no chance AA trades our best pitcher who is on a pretty affordable contract. That would leave Schwelly as the only reliable pitcher heading into 2026.

He’ll be 37 and has a spreadsheet of injuries. If we are in position to be relying on that (next year) then we are screwed in a plethora of different ways. We've talked about AA's failures this off-season ad nauseum.
If we trade Sale, we just have to replace him. And whoever that replacement is would cost a lot more than his 18 million dollar option.
Oh we can plan on it. Then you need to be realistic. This Arizona series was the nail in the coffin as far as this season goes. They play at SF and Milwaukee next.
They should to be sellers.
You don’t have to punt on 2026. Just recognize that a guy like Sale isn’t your future and let somebody else rent him for a prospect. You can still go sign a couple of pitchers and an actual MLB SS in the offseason, get Profar back to play LF and win in 2026.Also, if you don't think this team is gonna be competitive in 2026, you might as well go full rebuild. Acuna has 3 years remaining on his deal. We all want Acuna to be a Brave for life, but realistically, he might be asking for 500 million by that time and there is no chance we do that. So unless we develop another superstar, the next 3 years is our competitive window. And in that case, punting 2026 doesn't seem like a legitimate option for us.
