They need to stop with the pitch count crap and let Russell go tomorrow

Generally agree, but Russell is a special case. After his TJ, I think they are being very careful with him. Maybe too careful in some eyes, but I think it’s the right call on an arm like that.

However, I’d leave it up to the kid in the post season. If he says he can go for an inning, I’d have to give him a shot.

I only caught the early portion of the game yesterday. What was Russell’s pitch count?

53. He most likely could give you an inning. He threw 75 in Hoover. So, if you can get an inning from Russell and a couple of scoreless from Doyle then you just need the less experienced arms to hold it down enough for our offense to wake up. Lot of bats that were silent tonight and will hopefully wake up tomorrow. Bargo and Ensley have had an awful weekend. You would hope that means they are due.

Start Doyle for 2-3, Russell for 1-2, and then it’s fingernail biting time.

That gets you somewhere between 4-6 innings, but need the bats to step up big time.

Peebles and Snead were not on the same page tonight. I think he got crossed up 2 or 3 times tonight. Not making excuses and that shouldn’t happen but it did. They had a guy get the bunt down who hadn’t sacrificed all year. It was their night. We will send them packing tomorrow.

You save Russell for the 8th or 9th if you’re going to get just one inning or so from him. Snead is likely down or at the very least after 40 pitches will be one inning at most. Think he’s going to start Kuhns and then have Doyle come in for relief depending on how Kuhns performs.

This is much more plausible. Kuhns is in a prime spot to get out of the late season funk and become a legend. Not sure if I’m buying it, but I’ll be danged if I’m not pulling hard for him.

Regardless, need the bats to show up and show out for anything to really matter. And if Kuhns is the starter, he needs to get a few innings under his belt with no major issues.

What I wouldn’t give for a Sechrist right about now.

Gotta believe it should be really difficult for WF to win four double elimination games in a row, but it would be such a TN thing to let them do. Please, let’s not!
It would be “such a Tennessee thing” to win our fifth straight regional, the year after we won the College World Series. You’re stuck in the past, bruh.
