Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Bet Karen is kicking herself for putting up the “Stop Signal” back in the second inning. It’s the beauty of baseball/softball. Always looking back to see what you could have/should have done.
After ANY game fans or Coaches can look back and say " What if". The walk starting the bottom of 7th started the downfall, "IF" Pickens doesn't walk the #7 batter in lineup we never get back to top of the Oklahoma Lineup... Anyhow it is what it is a tough loss and just need to come back refocused tonight and send Florida home...

Yep, it’s absolute insanity. my family is wanting to go to that game since we are all ETSU alums, and it will cost at least $400-500 for that game, and me and my dad already have season tickets
Same goes for my family and friends. I don’t mind paying more for better games, but charging this much for UT vs. ETSU is ridiculous. I’ll still go but I’m definitely going while complaining lol.

that's ridiculous.

no way i'm paying what could pay air bnb for and entire weekend, including a tv to watch the game for the entire family and friends.

What's frustrating is that in these games at this level you sometimes aren't afforded multiple mulligans. Yesterday, there were multiple could've's and should've's and we still were in prime position to win the game.

We played a much better game that OU yesterday. We had 8 hits on their ace. We left 7 runners on base, including leaving the bases loaded with 1 out in the 7th.

She could've sent that runner in the 2nd and she very likely could've been thrown out. That's mostly a hindsight decision. But the absolute worst decision was to pitch at Ella Parker instead of walking her in the 7th. A decision that was obvious in the moment.
True….it would have been bang bang at home but even if she would have been out, you are sending a message and applying pressure. Pressure leads to mistakes and other opportunities that might not be available otherwise. I think we are the 7th seed playing the 2nd/3rd (?), you have to take the game to them.

You are right, you can look back to almost every inning and see things you would have changes. Now it’s important to clear it from your head and move on. Objective is still in front of us.

Ticketmaster is pricing fans out of games. Tickets for the ETSU game are going for the same if not more than what I usually pay ($150–$250) for SEC opponents. That’s just ridiculous.
Yeah
Ridiculous

Last year we paid 200 for Chattanooga game
Mid bowl on the 30 but still way too much
Only one we could all make work
Not going this year
Bought a new TV and have cheaper concessions at home lol

For me, IMO, it wasn’t completely obvious. If you walk her, you are putting the tying run at 2nd where a single ties the game most likely. You have the best pitcher in the country out there and she trusted her to get out of it.

I don’t think it’s as easy of a decision as most people think. Hindsight is always 20/20

And damn trying to be a good person and selling to “other vols” for face value - they’ll just take advantage of you then turn around and resell for a profit.
I think applying a bit of common sense in those situations may help. Honestly, at end if the day you can't control what they do.

Family friend here in JC was in car business for years. They used to 'mark em up just a little bit.'😆

That's all of virginia
Yesterday in Johnson City, the right side of the interstate was blocked by 8 JCPD officer vehicles. Traffic backed up to Boones Creek, 5 miles back. Soon after all 8 convened in the N JC Verizon parking lot, for an hour. All lights flashing, inexplicable. No arrests, no wreck.

Welcome to small towns.

I definitely do, but can also be difficult. I’ve just never been one to scalp tickets for Vols or musicians who I enjoy. I just hope it pads my karma.

Yeah softball game...there's a handful of "what if" moments.

The runner we didn't send, the 1 out based loaded we didn't cash in, the safe at first called out that wasn't challenged...

Ultimately their best hitter made a play when they needed it most. Pickens is an elite pitcher but that game that girl had her figured out...hit 2 HRs and that was the difference.

I'm from lynchburg VA and they're like that there and the surrounding counties. Just cops everywhere and you live in a perpetual state of fear. Anytime I'm home in VA I'm constantly paranoid. Even when I'm not speeding. Tennessee? Not so much. I do live in Hendersonville now and there are cops everywhere that do nothing. Just makes me wonder how many tax dollars are going to too many cops.

you are paranoid when you're at home?

listen i'm not going to diminish your opinion. there are many social variables, and other things that can go into this.

yes there are a lot of police in virginia. but def no more or less aggressive than say, JC or KPD in Knox Cty.

If you're really that paranoid about it you may want to talk with someone, or ask @TrippieRedd for something not so harsh.

Virginia was like that decades ago. I'd cross that border and start driving slower. Interesting to hear it's still that way.

The offensive line crisis in college football: What's behind the decline?

Even elite programs are struggling to find and stack depth up front

I wish EVERYONE would read this. Offensive line is a tough, developmental position. It isn’t the type position that freshman or even sophomores excel at. Rare is the young player who can make an impact on the OL
