I actually both like and respect Trey Gowdy. He was a great prosecutor in South Carolina. Practically a legend. If you have ever watched shows such as "Forensic Files," then you have probably seen cases involving him. He is a highly skilled and thorough investigator. He would have been a great choice for Attorney General in a Republican Party Administration. Unfortunately, it appears that Matt Gaetz received stronger consideration than Gowdy did for AG. That's Donald Trump for you
However, he is making incendiary rhetoric a partisan issue here, and it shouldn't be.

How some members of the Republican Party have normalized the use of violent rhetoric
The Jan. 6 panel recently presented new evidence on how former President Trump stoked violence leading up to the Capitol insurrection. But the escalation and normalization of violent rhetoric has extended beyond Trump, becoming a dangerous feature of Republican campaigns and party messaging...

Many Republicans, as well as some posters on here, insisted that Donald Trump's post-2020 Presidential Election rhetoric was not in any way responsible for the riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, because words alone do not incite rational-thinking people to violence. Since the assassination attempts on Trump were made last summer, Republicans, as well as those posters here, have changed their tune on that belief .... but you can't have it both ways. If Democrats/liberals are capable of inciting violence with rhetoric, than so are Republins/conservatives.
