I got to meet him when I was a kid. We knew one of the players and he was getting us tickets for a game. He told us we could go to his dorm room in old Gibbs Hall to pick them up.

My Dad and I walk in the room to discover Bill Bates was his roommate and he had our tickets.

Brian Rice, the Lady Vols play by play announcer is hysterical. He doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to the umps.

He said the NCAA brought in a forth ump for tournament. “It’s never a good thing when you get more umps. And guess what, the forth addition blew that call.”

Also blew the call on the dinger. Replay overturned it though.

Brian Rice said that CKW and CPS had a special relationship. Pat told her that when they make it to WCWS the first time that she would be there no matter what. Tennessee got fined because Pat missed an SEC media day because she was at the WCWS cheering for the Lady Vols Softball.

That’s why the Summitt Blue Unis are part of the team.
