“But I got to stop wishin', got to go fishin' Down to rock bottom again Just a few friends, just a few friends” (pictures)

Oh, and for the first time ever, had a line fly out of the fish, slingshot behind me, and come back and literally stick in the back of my head 🤣

Finally got into some cleaner water today. Didn't seem to help much lol. Couple keeper size Whiting, maybe 10 or so small ones. Medium sized bluefish. Only one catfish (thankfully- the cleaner water helped). Couple undersized pomps. The keepers are still elusive and its already the end of May which is crazy. Did catch a decent little shark on one of the cut up Whiting.

The surf/current have been so rough lately its been taking satellites to hold. So that's all I've been bringing, and big Pyramids. Of course I didn't need them Saturday as it was flat and calm lol

Only time I've ever used the sputniks are in 6 oz on my anchor rod when i used to do pin rigging in the carolinas. I found a couple of 3 oz spitniks in another old bag. I guess in your part of florida, pin rigging for hatteras blues, spanish, and kings is about the same as it is in the carolinas. One moron on the T with 2-3 hookups makes pier fishing enjoyable. I think I like the conflict.

I havent fished much on the panhandle or in @Behr's gulf ocean, but sight-casting spanish kings and cobes and liveling baits is something i'd like to do more of. Pensacola Beach Pier is one I love. 3000 size reel or smaller, first shot pier, no heavy weights.

I freeze them in a 1-1/2 pvc pipe with bait. Take them out of that pipe once frozen and fire them 300 yards off shore with an air cannon. It takes about 2 minutes to melt and sink. That’s a 300 yard cast from the beach.

We've been needing them here the past month or so from the surf. Been that rough. It was fine this weekend though. I would have been okay with 3 oz Pyramids I'm sure. And I dont like to use more weight than I need. Especially considering those satellites ain't cheap and with as many sharks there are around here you lose them in the surf more often than you'd expect. But I'm not targeting blues, Spanish Mackerel or kings when I'm doing that. I catch plenty of blues and some macks on accident. I usually fish live mullet during the mullet run in the surf for that stuff, as well as early morning swim baits if the surf is calm.

Hey MP, when you tie your leader say fluouro onto the braided main line, do you use a uni-to-uni knot? Anytime I went mono to fluoro leader, I just used a blood knot because the diameters were pretty similar and I just wanted reduced visibility (e.g., picky pomps or Spanish). Braid is a new thing to me.

I got mine on Amazon. Not as good quality, but much cheaper 😆. My buddy got one at bluewater several years ago while we were there, paid near $400! He don't got kids though, he could afford it.

My saltwater gear went to the buyer of my mother’s former home. It was part of his contract offer, along with the yard tools and a couple of pieces of furniture. Greater love hath no son…

We slayed the bees today but that's about it aside from the one nice mutton. We kept getting broken off/sharked when we had bigger stuff on. Guide was convinced I had a grouper on, and amberjack on, and a big Snapper (gray or mutton) on and i fought each of them for 10+ minutes (close to 30 on that last snapper- guide had us on super light tackle). So that was disappointing to not land a huge one after having so many on today but I'm happy with the mutton and the limit of bees.1000001211.jpg

Uni to uni is what I do normally but I've heard Alberto knot is better

Seriously? They weren't gonna buy unless they got your fishing gear?

That's hilarious I'm sorry
