President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

If you call providing incentives for businesses to relocate their manufacturing jobs/facilities to the United States? Then you are correct. If you are suggesting that it's standard operating procedure for American Presidents to be publicly threatening the CEO of an American company with a 25% tariff, if they don't relocate? Then you are very wrong, and way off-base here. Such threatening demands constitute executive overreach, and are a step towards authoritarian-style rule.
I do believe you have been schooled on this already. At this point, it's not just ignorance.

Apple is the only US cell phone 'manufacturer'. Spyware is a distinct danger in our devices, so manufacture in China is a national security interest. As a matter of fact, I was just reading an article that a HUGE % of Chinese manufactured solar equipment have been found to have hard-wired rogue communications back to China. IOW, China likes to spy on us via the tech equipment that they produce.

Again. Stop overusing the "authoritarian" schtick. You're undervaluing the importance of calling out actual authoritarianism. It's stupid and lazy.

Stop it.

He talks bad about China and how we need to fix it shortly after this quote. For years, we have followed the same American playbook. I am willing to wait and see if he is able to correct some of our previous failings. I don't agree with Trump on many things but I have also never tried to negotiate deals with most powerful men/women in the world.
LOL. So what?

Donald Trump clearly defended the outsourcing of manufacturing in that interview, when he plainly said, "Well, that's good. We employ people in Bangladesh. They have to work too."

That quote is incongruous with the current stance that Donald Trump has taken with Apple.

It absolutely constitutes executive overreach. The President has no business demanding where a company manufactures their products. It is a step towards authoritarianism. The ignorance rests inside of your unconditional defense of Donald Trump. You are a cultish sheep.

It is authoritarian for a President to be making such threats to the CEO of a business, concerning where they should manufacture their products. There is nothing wrong with the word "should" either. Trump's approach to Apple is heavy-handed, and it shows no capacity for negotiating a deal which would be in the best interest of both Apple and the American economy.

Don't blame me for pointing out that Donald Trump is an ineffective leader, with zero capacity for negotiation. Instead of making deals where both parties benefit, every deal involving Donald Trump is a zero sum game to him, where there is only a winner and a loser. That is not the "art" of a deal. That is yet another example of Donald Trump embracing authoritarian-style rule.
Heavy handed and authoritarian are not synonyms. Again. It's stupid and lazy. It reflects on you much more than on your targets.

I never claimed there is anything wrong with the word "should". It's a very important word IMHO. There is nothing wrong with the word "should" as long as you've made a cogent argument that confirms support for the legal, ethical, or moral claim. Otherwise, you're just positing your opinion as fact--your preference as law.

I just gave reference to just one bit of legislation that gives him the power. It's not executive overreach.

Your schtick is stupid and lazy. Stop it.

I wasn't speaking in the legal sense. Yes, Trump can apply these stupid tariffs. However, his demands are a step towards authoritarianism.

... and his efforts will ultimately fail, just like everything else he has tried :

.... and if you don't like what I post? Do more than just complain about them. Put me on ignore, and just communicate with the Trump echo chamber on here. You won't hurt my feelings. I promise.

It's pretty damn hilarious for you to believe you're even mildly informed on current events
Not as hilarious as you thinking you’re the main character. So again, how does 2008 Letterman translate to recent ME. If you don’t know just chime in with an attempt at a quick witted comment. Show some depth since you wanted to dance.

So, you're using a legal term to describe non-legal preferences that "should" not happen, without bothering to debate why they "should" not happen. lol That's your defense against the accusation that your schtick is stupid, lazy and unproductive? To reaffirm that it's stupid, lazy, and unproductive?

And why would I ignore your posts? Do you have any idea what a beta move it is to publicly ask someone to stop correcting your schtick? It's like a dog rolling over on its back and exposing its belly.

Just do better. That's the response.

Good luck..he is just gonna continue posting the same quote....without the rest of the interview...claim Trump's a hypocrite from 2008..like all political figures are not hypothetical..m the. When presented with alternatives that dispute his claims he ignores them..and changes it's a step towards authoritarianism not that it is.

For one thing, the rest of that interview does not change Donald Trump's defense of outsourcing. Trump threw in some negative comments about China, but his defense of outsourcing was very clear throughout, and that makes his current demands of Apple very hypocritical.

If you don't think that Republicans have used quotes against Democrats that were made in years past, and also made while the Democrat was working in the private sector? Then you are kidding yourself.

Trump's hypocrisy is highly relevant to this discussion, and that hypocrisy could not be any more evident.

Congrats. Trump a human can be and is sometimes hypocritical...I didn't realize you have never been hypocritical and are infallible...your whole point is arguing people are people but its worse cuz it's Trump and you don't like him...time to grow up

I didn't say they were synonyms. If they meant the same thing, I wouldn't have felt the need to use both of them. That would be redundant. LOL.

Your defense of Trump's hypocrisy is a poor reflection on you .... and yes, Donald Trump is a brazen hypocrite.

And you're wasting your time with the 'hypocrite' diversion. It's just a go-to because it's easy to throw out when you realize that discussions have turned in such a way that you're showing when you're out of your depth. "Muh Trump! Take that MAGAs!"

...

The points you ignore in debate are just as revealing as the ones you attempt to respond to.

Trump's hypocrisy is not a diversion. His hypocrisy is highly relevant to the discussion of the threats he has lodged against Apple.

A more skilled negotiator than Donald Trump, would not have to resort to making public threats, in order to get what he wants, anyway.

And yet he's a Putin puppet because he didn't start with public threats. Speaking of hypocrites?

(It seems to me that someone who understands negotiations would understand that they consist of both carrots and sticks. But you've shown that you're less interested in nuance and good faith discussion, as much as demonizing those with whom you disagree.)

The point of the reminder was more about the fact that you're so simple we can predict your moves, btw.

LOL. Ridiculous nonsense.

Where did I say that he should threaten Putin?

It's a sign of the lack of foundation to your own argument and of your inability to defend it .... that you have become so desperate as to try to completely change the subject.

That's rich.

Keep it up. It's free entertainment.

Discussing what was said on Letterman and comparing/contrasting to Trump's behavior today is depth? 😯🤭

You are reaching. He was blindsided by Letterman about a product he allowed to use his name. He said he didn't know where they were made, and needed them made in America. He also said that the rules make companies want to manufacture products overseas. He felt that Mitt Romney would try to fix the situation.

You're accusing someone else of reaching while simultaneously defending Trump's actions on virtually every issue? It's an astonishing lack of self awareness
