if people are really serious about tackling the debt then people should have no problem with all the entitlements cut in half OR MORE starting with Social security, Medicare/Medicare, food stamps, subsidies etc.

why don't you run for Congress on the platform "I want to cut you social security check" then you will find out real quick people are not that serious about cutting the debt.

I never did trust Rand Paul. Years ago during the first time he was running, he actually wanted to raise the social security age to 70 years old instead of 65. How he won that first time I don’t know, but we have to make sure that traitor doesn’t get in again.

On a more serious note, Swamp, I read your trapping posts with interest, as I have a boy who loves the outdoors and has done a little skunk trapping for some friends when the pests are invading crawl spaces.

You have posted about coyote trapping. We have some friends with a bit of a coyote issue at their farm. My boy has expressed an interest in assisting with that issue as well. (The friends have many deer and multiple pets they don't wish to become coyote food.) Where would you direct a 17 year old for resources on dealing how to best deal with these coyotes while being protective of other wildlife and pets (primarily dogs, but maybe a barn cat or two.)

TFHA has a training camp annually near Harrison Bay, a full weekend of hands on trapping, and fur put up. Supper good food, great instructors often some free trapping stuff all free. Other training events are in middle and west TN and a real good one in ky. TFHA has a 3 day meet at Fall creek falls around September, at youth camp 2. A cabin rents for $50/weekend. GOGGLE TFHA for more info.

Another excellent online resource in Trapperman.com Paul Dobbins(a trapping icon) had a one heck of a site.

My offer stands for free traps and lure. I live in powell, TN. The Anderson County side.

Hope this helps. The future of trapping is our youth. There is also a good living to be made ADC trapping

"off" isn't the right term. more of an OCD/autistic thing where I just hate terrible, as in illogical, arguments and am compelled to try and correct them. the hope is to get better, and thus more engaging, arguments/discussions in the future. even if I agree with the result of the argument, if you make a terrible argument, I am going to call you out for it.

and yes it was hypocritical. on one they decide to not hold a vote, on the other they do. They do have to vote to get someone into the Supreme Court, voting is the key to the matter, regardless of what the party in charge wants. its literally the legislatives job is to vote on matters. without a vote they aren't going their jobs, and in this case they were being hypocritical on holding a vote or not.

This is not a partisan issue. Neither party has the guts to cut the budget. Congress sucks. We need more adults in Congress than Rand Paul, Thomas Massey and Warren Davidson

The way I’m reading it, I don’t know that it’s this year’s budget deal, but legislation that outlines what new budgets will look like and costing them out over the next ten years. I think a budget deal still has to take place. Of course, all Congress has done lately pass continuing resolutions and not a budget. We will see if that changes. I didn’t see anything wrt PPH, NPR. A judge has recently blocked Trump’s dismantling of the Dept of Ed. I would have to go back and look, but I think much of Trump’s EOs in his first few weeks in office cut a lot of govt funded outlets a bit. Of course, now this has to go through the Senate. I found this below:

President Trump's recent executive order, issued in May 2025, specifically targets the defunding of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), which directly impacts National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS)

Specifically, the executive order instructs:
  • The CPB to cease all direct funding to NPR and PBS. This means no more direct federal subsidies will go to these organizations.

Why 10 years? Because all revenue cuts happen immediately, while most spending cuts don't kick in until the next president's term. That way, you can present the illusion of some sense of fiscal responsibility. In reality though, most spending cuts never happen.

The new VC-25A's will be around 12 years old or more by the time Boeing gets around to getting them done.

They were originally built in 2014-2016 and was originally scheduled to be delivered to the now defunct Russian airline Transaero in 2017.
