My brother had a Subura Brat in the early 80’s. He worked out west as a hotshot fire fighter for 3 summers and drove it out there every time. Thing was ahead of its time with the seats in the bed. My first car was the Subaru sedan. Great cars.Loved my subaru. Really surprised and saddened about the '08 outback limited 2.5i
Driveshafts, wheel bearings, head gaskets, pil pan leak, CV Boots.
My '95 never had those issues.
Had I just kept it as a daily would have been bueno. But I put 30-50 a year on them.
Not made with same ingredients. Ive owned two. Steel is different. My brother had a Subura Brat in the early 80’s. We just had good luck with ours and very few people had them around here back then. I really liked my brothers Brat. Go around Asheville today and Subarus are everywhere. Not made with same ingredients. Ive owned two. Steel is different.
Loved my Outback. Was the perfect car, regardless of what anyone says, to raz or be judgemental. Loading a kayak, canoe, fishing gear, in the snow, rain, doesnt matter. Best car in elements, period. Safe.
Just wouldnt last:
Yup, that's where I bought my second Subaru in 2009. Hated to give that car up. Wished I still had it. When I traded for CRV, had just fixed one HG leak, 1 wheel bearing, differentials front left and right, had new tires, and drive shaft (Subaru covered $375 of that work bc I raised hell). We just had good luck with ours and very few people had them around here back then. piece of junk (in my best uncle Si voice) but you loved it anyway. Makes sense….Yup, that's where I bought my second Subaru in 2009. Hated to give that car up. Wished I still had it. Still needed other HG and Oil Pan leaks fixed and another wheel bearing.
The final straw was the drive shaft falling out of the car, into the interstate on way back from fishing. I was physically mad.
Made a mistake trading versus selling privately. Obviously I'm anal retentive, and yes I keep every receipt. All of them.
One other drawback with kids is lack of room in a Subaru. One thing I like about the Toyotas is the additional roominess.
they're just better vehicles.
