President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

They need to look at defense. They also need to raise the age of taking SS. It's nuts that SS is available to folks at age 62. Problem is there's about 5 fiscal conservatives in Wash DC and Trump isn't one of them. Rand Paul and Thomas Massey are but there's not enough of them
Agreed. Need to take defense down by a few hundred billion. Pushing a trillion in defense is insane. Just perpetuating the MIC at this point.

There’s no hypocrisy. No tribalism. Just politics as normal. If your group is in control, you get to select the justice. If they’re not, you don’t.

Your stance would be like claiming it’s hypocritical that I get to make a draw a card when it’s my turn in a card game, but won’t allow my opponent to do so during my turn.
how is that not tribalism?

you explained tribalism exactly in your fourth sentence.

If you want to proclaim all politics is tribalism, sure. But the idea is that this is somehow outside of the norm. That this is in someway any more partisan than any other action taken by the senate.

That idea is a joke.

You fell into the BB85 trap. He argue 1 single narrow point.. provided numerous left leaning/CNN article to use as proof. And argues only to those articles and nothing outside of it....in this case sure it can be viewed as hypocritical...but he will ignore the hypocrisy of the Dems hiding Biden health and mental decline while staying they will have 100% transparency..

COE shuts down 20 parks on lake Lanier. This action due to doge cuts.
Campgrounds, National Parks and monuments are used by millions, generating $ millions of revenue to local economies.
Enjoy your summer. It's what you voted for magas

Using your logic, guess you voted for 10+Million illegal immagrants bringing murder, rape and fentanyl, double digit inflation, men in women’s sports/bathrooms and on and on and on. BECAUSE of these and other useless beauracratic spending, we will have to sacrifice and make cuts.

It is what the majority voted for. If we hadn’t, we would be headed for much more peril.

IF these closings affect you personally, I am sorry. We are all going to be feeling it.

The COE is a piss poor organization that hates us, always remember that.

all politics that follow the party lines, or use the various parties as justification for anything is the definition of tribalism. especially where you are predetermining the results.

If McConnell had gone out and said we are going to vote against Garland because of X, Y, and Z merits. that wouldn't have been tribalism.

not holding a vote at all is outside the norm.

there have been 34 failed nominations in our history. only 3 other nomination didn't even get any vote. the rest got votes, and were rejected, or withdrawn.
The first because the guy in question was nominated against his will.
The second one was because his health was so bad, and he actually died before he ever would have taken the seat, so the lack of vote seems justified.
The third they tabled, with no vote, until after the election only because the incoming president promised he would appoint him too, and he got voted in after that. So I don't really see that as a failed nomination.

There were 6 other nominations where the senate voted to wait, and then later voted on the appointment and rejected the candidate.

Garland was unique as far as I can tell to not be given any vote by the Senate, especially when it comes to political reasoning.

Strange that privately owned attractions stay open while the Government Owned Publicly Owned! properties are closed to the public.

Sounds like we need more government!

Are you just stupid?? Serious question.COE is not privately owned or Financed. BTW COE campgrounds generate more income than debt.

But that's not all, Thanks to doge national parks( another money generator) are taking huge staffing cuts, ending or curtailing services. Cripples protection of park land and features.

Thanks DOGE

MAGAS are so stupid

Whi is "us"? It surely isn't me. So many people enjoy COE campgrounds and lakes. Not getting washed away by floods is another minor bonus. So when you say "us" you mean me.

The COE hates us, us as in the citizens which I assume includes you.

I use a lot of COE campgrounds and I’m not talking about the independent contractors that work as campgrounds hosts. I’m talking about the management.

There's something to be said for that. Taxes are a big reason why I'm waiting. What you describe is another reason to raise the age. We need to make some tough cuts and raising the age is an idea that'd make a significant difference

Those most impacted by taxes at 62 are those in higher tax brackets and are more likely to have a negative ROI on social security contributions....

If I take at 70, Im going to have to live to 86 or 87 to "break even"...

Agreed they should have voted. They should have voted no, but voted either way

Nope. Not to brag, but I am on the north side of two standard deviations above the mean right here, so I am anything but stupid.
A bit sarcastic, perhaps. Somewhat of a button pusher to grumpy, illogical posters? Absolutely! But anything but stupid.

COE is not privately owned or Financed. BTW COE campgrounds generate more income than debt.
I know. That is the point. Based strictly on the economics of it, a private entity would never shut down an asset that generates a profit.

But that's not all, Thanks to doge national parks( another money generator) are taking huge staffing cuts, ending or curtailing services.
Meh. Doesn't really matter if they are closed and no one can go there, does it?

Cripples protection of park land and features.
Park lands and features have made it billions of years without Park Service intervention. I am sure they will withstand this storm as well.

Thanks DOGE

MAGAS are so stupid
Wait, am I finally MAGA? I feel ripped off, I haven't even gotten my hat yet!!

On a more serious note, Swamp, I read your trapping posts with interest, as I have a boy who loves the outdoors and has done a little skunk trapping for some friends when the pests are invading crawl spaces.

You have posted about coyote trapping. We have some friends with a bit of a coyote issue at their farm. My boy has expressed an interest in assisting with that issue as well. (The friends have many deer and multiple pets they don't wish to become coyote food.) Where would you direct a 17 year old for resources on dealing how to best deal with these coyotes while being protective of other wildlife and pets (primarily dogs, but maybe a barn cat or two.)

TIA,

RW

or at least holding a vote on the scheduling instead of just deciding it outside of the floor of the actual Senate. He invoked the Senate without actually making it a Senate action. It was a Republican action, not a Senatorial action, hence why it was partisan.

I don't know how to pm you. But it would be an honor to pass on to your son
If you can contact me I would donate traps, lure and tutoring. Heart condition don't allow me to do much.

You get off to this don’t you? The senate doesn’t have to vote. The overall question we were attempting to address was is it hypocritical.

It was not.

Understand no private entity would shut down, unless they could not hire any staff.

I'm sure you know some structures, plants, and features in National Parks are irreplaceable. Carving initials into cabins, digging plants and flowers, collecting petrified wood. As well as servicing bathrooms, info centers, Park trails etc require staff. DOGE doesn't care

Noem doesn't know what "habeus corpus" is, and Gabbard apparently doesn't know what constitutes 'intelligence analysis'.

Only the best people.
