May “seem” that way to you, but not to me. Since you brought up your own employment history out of context, I’ll mention I did a 4 year stint as a home health RN about a decade ago in both urban and rural areas. When you see people’s hardships ranging from true disability, going medically bankrupt (btw, the number of people that fall under this category is disgusting, shame on America), no family/caregiving/resources, it’s overwhelming at times. I worked hand-in hand with organizations like area agency on aging, meals on wheels, local churches, social workers, etc to help people get what they needed. Maybe it’s just a difference in perspectives between us.

I am Physical Therapist that use to do Homehealth and now I am a Rehab Director at a SNF. I am assuming that you are mainly referring to the elderly. The main issue is that our government chooses winners and losers. If you worked for a living then our Government makes you fend for yourself in a lot of ways.

A few examples:
I worked at SNF and we had to send a former farmer home with very little help bc of some small assets that he had. At the same time, we sent a guy to live in a beautiful villa with free food and caregivers that had never worked and had abused drugs his entire life.

We just sent a school teacher home in a similar situation bc he drew over 1300 dollars a month and couldn’t qualify for a medicaid related ALF.

In North Carolina, illegal immigrants get unlimited therapy and free equipment. American citizens do not qualify for the same treatment.

We value the wrong people.
