But the cop CAN give you a ticket and you can’t argue about it.
And I have no problem with any color person. The millions of Hispanics who came here the RIGHT way are perfectly ok with me.

If the cop doesn’t detain you for an extended period the ticket argument is a red herring. The issue is protection from unlawful and baseless detention by the government

Trump was arrested and fined half a billion dollars for a disagreement over a real estate appraisal that absolutely no one complained about.

Right…..because if there is one thing we have learned it is surely that an illegal immigrant will 100% show up for their scheduled hearing four years into the future 🙄.

It is not unlawful or baseless detention. How many people did Obama and Biden stick in literal cages? Was that “lawful” detention under your definition?

Another red herring. Hey release can be denied if they are deemed a flight risk or other circumstance like that. However the process is constitutionally protected and needs to be obeyed.

Also you’re again referring to the deportation hearing not an unlawful detention.

if you are worried about how long it will take to process them all, why not have Trump appoint more judges to hear the cases? last I saw there were still a couple dozen open judge seats for immigration.

I would start there long before I ever considered suspending rights. I would make the fed process as streamlined as possible, make sure every job was filled. heck try rewriting the laws before you suspend the constitution.

On Wednesday, Rep. Eli Crane, an Arizona Republican, asked Noem whether unlawful immigration into the US under President Joe Biden – which Noem has referred to as an invasion – was enough to meet the constitutional threshold to suspend habeas corpus.

“I’m not a constitutional lawyer but I believe it does,” Noem said.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Tuesday that President Donald Trump has an absolute right to deport people without due process, after she incorrectly defined the meaning of the term habeas corpus.

Noem was grilled on habeas corpus — the constitutional right of individuals to challenge their detention by the government in a court of law — during a Senate hearing.

“Secretary Noem, what is habeas corpus?” asked Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H.

“Well, habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country,” Noem replied.

“That’s incorrect,” Hassan interjected. “Habeas corpus is the foundational right that separates free societies like America from police states like North Korea.”
