Trade Wars and Tariffs

For anyone falling asleep at the wheel here, this "win" is a crock of ****. Everything from China still 30% more expensive. And what, pray tell, did Trump "win" as concessions from China? Anyone?

Devil's in the details. Trump doesn't do details.
i haven’t noticed anything being 30% more expensive.

I am SO EXCITED about my new manufacturing job!

Will be starting shortly at minimum wage. Moving into mom's basement. Trading in truck for a Vespa.

God bless you, Donald. I knew you really really cared about me!!!

"Minimum wage" includes my many friends making really good money at the VW plant and its associated feeder manufacturers that it brought to town with it? As well as the boost in local economy from building them before they ever opened?

It amazed me that hate can drive some people to the decision that manufacturing isn't a net positive for the economy, above and beyond relying on a fragile service economy.

I've been skipping along in this thread and not reading every single post. It seems the usual crowd is screaming doom, gloom and everything is Trump's fault. While there are some defending Trump, the business people who are unaffected with TDS seem to be cautiously optimistic. I'm in the latter group. Trump is at least attempting to address some seriously problems with the way China conducts international business.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've not seen anything from the usual crowd screaming their heads off, any acknowledgement there is a problem with Chinese trade and that no one until Trump has attempted to do squat about it. He may be wrong and we'll find out, but at least he knows there are problems and has a course of action.

He threatened the nation of Mattel with a 100% tariff if they import toys. Is toy making rocket science?

It’s pretty obvious that he misspoke saying “country” instead of “company”.

But what’s up with the gotcha guy’s tweet? “Trump floats the idea of a 100% on toys from Mattel which refers to as a country”

What is your point? Are you trying to say that tariffs don't do anything? What are you arguing?

Can I interest you in a $1k push mower?

60V Toros that are made in America are 500-600 dollars. What was the price before Tariffs. i figured Temu would be one of the hardest hit but haven’t noticed any significant change at all.

It's not an important part of our business but it was something we were trying to grow. Not sure anybody else has 120v, so it has its appeal
Actually, I would not mind having an electric push mower. Have a couple of areas that are too big for the weed eater, but too small for the regular mower. Have a gas one that currently isn't starting and needs some TLC I've not done.

Meanwhile PRC keeps on with their program:
