It had to fall one way or the other, so at least some appreciable quantity of voters (including myself) looked at the candidates' positions (or at least, campaign positions) their top individual issues as tiebreakers. The border security/immigration issue was what tipped the scale for me.

I can't imagine the alternative clown performing any better, but in all honesty, that's an admittedly low bar at this point.

I'm not even talking about voting for Trump. I'm talking about defending him today. People who pretend they are for the constitution, and for the free market, and for small responsible government, and for decency and civility, and against expansion of the executive, and against the idea of elites planning out America for us, etc....they sit around all day on VN cheerleading Trump and/or defending and deflecting with whatever they can come up with. That's the BS I'm talking about. You can make a mistake/vote for the lesser of two evils in November. But you need to stop being a dip$h!t by May, for God's sake.

If you voted for Trump and you have turned on him, then I'm not talking to you.

I said it last fall, I thought maybe Trump winning was better. It's hard to fathom that Kamala could be any worse. In fact, there is no chance with a Republican congress. We ****ed ourselves. We voted for an insane person because we're fkn afraid of everything.

I hardly hear anything anymore about the "T" Party. The platform wasn't in line with the Trump platform, at least not in a truly constitutional and conservative manner. I wonder how many of that group have seamlessly slid onto the Trump train?

AI is going to change it all. I have a new neighbor that escaped Hollywood for the rationality of Florida. He said there is a lot of fear in Hollywood about the jobs that they will lose with AI.

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from, man. I'm not convinced things are as dire as they seem to some at the moment, but like you said, it came down to the lesser of two evils. All flash, bush league execution, lacking in substance, wash/rinse/repeat. The two sides of the coin are so busy frothing and gnashing teeth at each other, that mitigates some of the moves in either direction.

As far as Congress goes...as usual, the R's are finding ways to get in their own way. Midterms could see a shift, especially if the policies being pushed keep hitting people in their wallets, and especially if the R's can't focus on fielding quality candidates and instead focus on those who kiss the ring, so to speak.

Happened 15 minutes ago: China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng and the Chinese delegation has walked out midway through the U.S.-China trade talks in Geneva with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and the U.S. delegation without giving any reasons for their swift exit.

Accurate. A percentage want the country to fail just to not see Trump turning this into a something needed for Americans.

Status quo of being taken advantage of is good for some.

You’re not as informed as you think you are. You don’t know me at all.

BTW, I’m MOSTLY libertarian. Smaller government that stays out of the way. Low taxes. Reduced regulations. Fiscal conservative and social moderate (no ladies room for men, so I guess that’s not socially liberal). And eff the CCP so maybe that’s conservative. Wear a mask and get the jabs if you want to, so not left. Vet the border crossers. Not liberal. Roll back parts of tge Patriot Act - the parts that are being abused. I don’t conform precisely to either side.

I do wear a lot of red ball caps though. I’ve picked them up at the ANGC gift shops in early April.

So, you're probably a lot like many of us, even though the idiots keep labeling us as MAGA Nazis. I agree with all of those positions and wish Trump would stay on schedule and quit the mouthy nonsense.

I tolerate his mouthy nonsense because he’s not a slick politician that’s been polishing his act for decades. He’s a crude NYC developer trying to pivot from the same crap that’s been going on in DC forever. Unlike the others, he’s wealthy and doesn’t need the legal bribes (book deals, speaking fees, etc) to significantly elevate his personal economic status. I challenged those idiots to be specific about which of the policies I’m supposed to be upset about. Other than he’s an insurrectionist and a dictator… Crickets.
