Recruiting Football Talk VIII

You may be right, but I think his current injury played a role.

After more stat review... I think (in order) the things that hurt Dylan's stock the most are

1. Fumbles (comparing him to RBs taken before him they had far more carries and still less fumbles)
2. Injury (mostly because it prevented him from running at the combine and when he did run at Pro Day it was slower than most had hoped)
3. Lack of passing catching in college (not really his fault, but something the NFL likely noted)

Sampson had never lost a fumble until the middle of this season.

I'd agree

Iirc most near goal line or in critical positions. Meaning they stood out even more.

Yeah, it's weird playing on the big stage all the negatives for our players seemed to get highlighted and remembered.

But like Jeanty played Penn State in bowl game and had 2 fumbles (only lost 1)... so you could argue "hey once he played a real defense he couldn't handle the ball!"

I think it's an easy fix, with Dylan it was almost always caused from trying to get more yards than was there. A good RB coach in the NFL will teach him to get what ya can and don't take a big hit

Barnes is balling on a budget baby

I wouldn’t put any stock in rankings that have byu as the number 3 team in country and Vanderbilt better than unc.

I do think we have a good chance to be a top 10 team again next year though. If ament is as billed, combined with Barnes defense, anything is possible.

Cleveland's QB room

DeShaun Watson ( who will never take another snap at Cleveland)
Joe Flacco 40 years old just there to help out for now
Kenny Pickett third team in 3 years
Dillon Gabriel will be a lifetime backup
Shedeur Sanders. Probably starts by mid season...

Sanders couldn't have picked a better spot to land...
I don't think Sanders "picked" that spot. If he was picking his spot, it would have been much, much higher :):):)

His rankings are based on analytics and each player has a usage number. BYU signed a top 3 freshman (comparable to Ament), kept their leading scorer, kept their freshman big man (10 points, 4 rebounds, 5.5 assists), and added a Baylor guard who was a wanted transfer. They will be really good.

Vanderbilt has been dropped now because he hadn't removed Jason Edwards for a while. Those rankings aren't subjective per se- they are based on talent, and his rankings are very reputable like KenPom.
