This is just an idea. Didn't we win a Natty with D. Curley as our short stop, our back up 2nd baseman, Antigua? What if Gaven Kilen could play 3rd base? To me he looks like one. Surely CTV has experimented? But our infield is out of it's true positions for some reason. Needs? We need a Volly Finger pitcher, to break up the rythym of hitters. We have pitchers that all seem to have similar traits. Not to say they are not very talented. They can all throw high 90s and killer cutter ball. But it's the same cookie cutter. And good hitters in the sec will dial in on that.

Backup 2nd baseman? You mean Christian Moore?

MLB Scouts project Kilen as a 2B mainly due to lack of + arm strength so I don’t think he’d be a good fit at 3B. Bargo has proven, both last year when Amick was out due to appendicitis and this year, that he can quite capably handle 3B. Bargo has good hands and a strong arm and is hitting over .300 in SEC play.

No replacing Kirby Connell. However, Dylan Loy has similar pitching characteristics. Certainly a similar hat :).

Put Abernathy as your lead off batter. Get on base no matter what it takes. If this kid gets on, he'll see you at third. If it's an out, then so be it. One out and he's not in the line up when it could become crucial.

Then why not Bargo at 3rd, Curley at SS and Kilen at second? I didn't know Kilen's arm strength was weak. So, sounds like we need Bargo , Curley, and Kilen (at 2nd) in the hitting lineup somewhere. Antigua just in case to fill in. If needed.

I wouldn’t say Kilen’s arm is weak by any stretch—just not the “plus arm” MLB Scouts desire at the next level. I’m sure Kilen would be serviceable at SS but I love him at 2B provided Curley gets back on track defensively. Nothing wrong with AA at SS but he needs to make the routine play more routinely. Both Marin and Antigua have surprisingly poor fielding percentages (under .930) granted in relatively limited sample sizes.

It's a little late in the season to "rebuild" the team. For a while there they had started to hit line drives, ect. They seem to me to be pressing lately, trying to hit the long ball. Sorta pressing like a little panic has seeped into their mind set. Losing a few my take a little pressure of and they may loosen up a little and get back on tract. Or - - - .

The physics part of the equation is what really matters, and many great teams’ chemistry is suffocated by the lack of physics coming from the top.

Well, since we're all advocating from our own academic perspective...

Bargo is clearly the best 3B. Play him there.
Abernathy and Newstrom are solid in LF. Play them there.
DH Curley, at least until he gets over the yips. If/when he does, put him back at SS and DH Clark and Grimmer.

TV is overthinking it.

But none of that addresses a bigger issue: we don’t have the pitching depth right now that we need to go far in the postseason. Guys like Kuhns, Krenzel, Arvidson, Behnke, and others are going to have to step up. And Russell is going to have to continued to stretch out.

But this is what’s fun about being a fan. We get to watch all of this stuff unfold. Maybe these things will happen. Maybe they won’t. I think they will.

I'd just DH Curley and have Antigua play short.
Gonna be interesting to see how they handle Curley going forward....assuming he snaps and clears mentally which is no easy thing. I'll also be watching to see if AJ's use begins to increase. It would be huge for the starting rotation if AJ could return to form and his usage grow. Just have a hard time seeing him get much more than 3-4 innings the rest of this season. Know this is the college game, but everyone involved will be looking to protect his MLB future. That puts the burden on some of our younger arms to take a step forward. Can they? Will they this year? We're awfully young. This might be one of those transition seasons every team goes through. Of course, for a "transition" season, it's pretty darned good if I'm being honest. No complaints from me. If this team hosts and makes the supers, that's a heckuva year for this roster.
