Interesting. I just don't remember our hitting struggling like this last season.
Seems we have had lots of games with very quiet bats.

Sunday games are decided by which teams back end pitching shows up. LSU did, Tennessee’s didn’t. TV saw what I saw based on his post game comments. Some guys weren’t confident enough to pitch in that situation. Only scoring 2 runs was also pitiful. Gotta step up these last 3 weekends.

I came up with 37 - 7 also
Kudos on the extra info

Had a lot to do with having tons of experience and guys who played with other for several years. Plus, 5 studs who all hit >20 HRs (Moore, Burke, Dreiling, Tears, Amick). In short, TN was loaded at the plate last year.

I looked at the number of games scoring 5 or fewer runs across both seasons (just an arbitrary number but around half of our “normal” RPG.) Also runs don’t necessarily equate to hits but it’s too laborious to go back and count hits game by game.

At the same point last year, we had scored 5 or fewer runs in 11 games. This year, we have scored 5 or fewer in 13 games. Fairly close. But we have scored 5 or fewer in 6 of our last 9 SEC games and lost 5 of them. So probably the “recency bias” and the fact we lose most of those games this year makes it”feel” like more.

Yeah, the “scary” part for me is looking at our last 3 series this year and going 7-2 would be a VERY tall order indeed.

Obviously, the overall 1 seed is out of reach. Just need to get into that top 8 somehow/someway. If not, we’ve gone the “hard path” before….

I agree, but I think our guys didn’t know what the strike zone was this weekend. Being overly aggressive isn’t a great plan at the plate, but it’s probably better than watching a bunch of called strikes and walking back to the dugout anyway.

That’s been a problem in our last 4 SEC series. We have been outscored 45-20 in Game 3 (10 of that 20 came in one game against Ole Miss), gone 1-3 and been run ruled twice.

CJJ saved his best 2 relievers for Game 3 and it worked out perfectly. Still should have lost the series….

That there is some high quality ciphering and analysis! 🧐🤙🏼

This series stings, but I’m still annoyed over the Aggie series. For the life of me, I don’t know how TAMU, playing like they were and run-ruled the first game, comes to Knoxville and whips the Vols twice.

Northwestern State beat LSU 13-3 Tuesday night. That was what the comment was referring to
Even a blind hog finds an acorn every once in a while. Tennessee knows that better than anyone. We won the National Championship after some small schools beat us. My concern is repeated losses due to both defensive mistakes and offensive short comings.
