Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Prayers on new journeys. I think several have shared lately they are in those in work and life.

April 27, 2025: There are things you can do now that have been impossible in the past for a variety of reasons. The doors are opening and possibilities are presenting themselves for your consideration. Be sensitive to current opportunities to move beyond where you have been stuck. The days ahead must be taken one step at a time instead of one leap at a time. Prepare for a methodical and consistent process, says the Lord. Isaiah 42:9 Behold the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.

The point of that post was value not winners and losers. It was on the percieved value of the picks against your options. The point i made earlier is anytime you choose to burn the #1 you are giving away your biggest value piece. So naturally you'd slide. They did the same to Panthers when they took Bryce. He was not immediately good either. 1st overall pick QB's when you have a lot of needs are huge risk. I like your draft fine, but hard to argue some teams like Atlanta didn't clean house. Pearce was a strong Value pick. Conversely picking only values like they believed Browns did (Shadeur and Sampson) is not a gaurantee either. I firmly believe you had a better draft than them. Giants and Falcons would be my top 2. I think Titans fell to middle low in overall value.
I think the Browns draft was kind of stupid. Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders? WTF?

And I wish Sampson had gotten picked by a better team.

Pretty common to be low when you have #1. Also apparently some think you could have gotten Oladejo later. Idk. Looks like you guys didn't sweat a fancy plan and took who you liked. Conviction can be positive.

i've been hyper critical of the oilers. they had a good draft.

That dude gave Cleveland an A. He is obviously a moron.

He would have been better off with the Toilers and I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

@butchna

Thoughts on whether Amari Cooper reunites with the Cowboys this upcoming season. Viewed where Amari hasn't signed with any team as of now...

Don't fall for the usual narrative. They drafted TE Helm and WR Alomayor. Both are very good at what they do.
Yes, those two picks have been highly graded and commended, as is signing Restrepo as an UDFA. But nobody has rated their draft highly across the board, and the metrics don't either. That's not a narrative, that's just what happened.

Yea, I really wanted Cowboys to draft Alomayor. The guy will ball out in NFL.

This is the ONLY person I've seen that thinks the Titans had a bad class.
I haven't seen anyone who thinks it's a great class. I don't think it's a bad class. I think it's a good/decent class. This is long-winded, but when am I not?

They reached on Dike but got bailed out by still getting the Stanford WR. Helm and the Sac State G were good picks.

The biggest criticism is with the 2nd - 4th picks. UCLA edge is a project. High ceiling but not proven. That's a risky pick when you need him to come in and replace Landry. The Penn State S has injury concerns and is a risk. Again, high reward and great value pick for the 3rd (I think he will be a stud). Dike, total reach. He played a lot of college football and never broke out as a major contributor. Drafted on speed.

None of them are inherently bad, but it feels like a lot of risks and projects were taken. Stuff you have a luxury to do when the team is successful and stable like the Chiefs have been (where the new GM came from) but idk about where the Titans are at.

But I'm not a GM and they'll probably all make me look dumb. I'm just fighting Battered Titan Draft Syndrome.
