I think the discussion here has 'proven' that financial incentives will not encourage the kinds of people that an upward moving society needs. $5000 is going to get the lowest of the low class to procreate, because they can't do simple math. For the middle class, the tax deduction is not an incentive to have kids, it is a merely a benefit.

Regardless, most middle class and up are not going to have more kids due to an extra $5K, but lower income people... Hell to the yeah. Trump is wrong to do this. It is not a smart play imho.

President Donald Trump pardoned Nevada Republican politician Michele Fiore who was convicted for fraud after prosecutors claimed she used money raised for a fallen police officer’s memorial for personal use.

In 2014, she raised tens of thousands of dollars through a charity and political action committee for a statue honoring Metropolitan Police Department officer Alyn Beck, who was shot and killed in the line of duty.

In 2024, Fiore was found guilty of six counts of federal wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud after she used the money raised for the memorial for plastic surgery, rent, and payments on her daughter’s wedding.

She was suspended in July 2024 from her position as justice court judge in Nye County after her conviction.

Nevada Judge Jennifer Dorsey wrote in her opinion that ‘not a dime’ of the money raised was used for a memorial.

Because society doesn’t function without kids and it functions better when those kids are raised by married people.

Government needs to do more to incentivize marriage. I’d remove child tax credits for anyone who is unmarried

I’m open to the proposal. But I would only give money/tax credits to married couples in which at least one is employed full time.

But my question is how do you change this trend?

I think part of the answer is ending a lot of the unnecessary degrees. The number of people going to college for a decade is a large part of the lack of children and partly a cause of the number of children born with autism.

This is tame compared to stuff I have heard about judges. Judges have been arrested in the past for taking sexual favors from divorcees for example.
