What I really don’t like is we kinda have ourselves to blame for this being this difficult. Potential QBs: who do you have for me to throw the ball to? Chris Brazzell and a bunch of unprovens. Potential WRs: who’s going to throw me the ball? 2 completely unprovens or maybe a transfer if we can get one. If we had backfilled the 5 outgoing WR transfers with even one proven asset we probably wouldn’t have too much trouble convincing a QB to come here. Or maybe we should have been planning a backup option if this really was how Nico’s camp was all along. I really f’ing hate Nico’s dad for this.
At this point: probably need to figure out how to retain Larry Johnson (never thought I’d say that). Probably need to take Aguilar. Need to get another wr, a dt, and imo at least one starter quality DB.
Still think we can have a good season because of a favorable schedule but really was hoping we’d take the leap from really good last year to title contender and I don’t see that happening this year anymore. Unless Merk is unknowingly the second coming of Casey Iceman Clausen. Bama and uf look like losses, as does uga. Oklahoma and Arkansas will be better than they were last year, but at least we get them at home so those are swing games, as could be cuse in atl, and kentucky on the road. 7-5 to 9-3 is my expectation now. If I had to guess, I think we figure out a way to take care of business in Atlanta in now a close one, beat up in a close one on the road, beat ark in a close one at home, lose to OU in a close one at home, probably get handled by uga, and bama/uf, which would put us at 8-4. Someone please convince me the outlook is rosier, as our 2026 class also looks like it will be less impressive than I had originally hoped for.
