Trade Wars and Tariffs

I'm going to break my pause from politics to respond.

HELL YES I DO. And so do real Americans. Could a paltry bunch of misfits defeat an oppressive regime and a modern English military to establish a new Nation, with freedoms never seen before? Could the Allies rally to save the world in WW2? Could we survive the threat of a nuclear USSR hell bent to rule the world?

And don't even get me started on your COVID BS. Everyone knows how ridiculous a comment that is.

You are literally the worst kind of person:
Pretend to be smart, condescending without any reason, then when the tiniest blip sounds the alarm on MSNBC, you call to arms the end of all we hold dear and praise a Communist nation. China is a hell-hole marred with a lack of human rights, religious persecution, child slavery, poor living conditions, dictatorship, hunger, threatening military, and a corrupt economy.

You should reflect on your position in the world and readjust your dumbass responses.
Just checking in. As I mentioned, I bookmarked this one. My beloved interlocutor seems to have gone AWOL. Just hoping to get your assessment of our cracker jack team of trade negotiators. We're still winning this thing, right?

I don't think the president can fire the Chairman of the Fed. Powell's term ends next spring and I highly doubt he get's reappointed so..

He can, he just has to have cause. Not sure what that means, but then Powell can sue and the the courts would review and approve or disapprove.

For cause is entirely too vague IMO, could being a complete dumbazz and calling the pandemic induced inflation "transitory" be a for cause reason? Doubtful but IMO Powell should resign in any case.

Powell and the Fed Reserve deserve a lot of the blame for the post pandemic jump in inflation and housing costs. It was idiotic not to start raising interest rates the minute states and countries started shutting down.

He's created a recession and will now shift the blame to Powell. Unfortunately, some will lap it up like cats with milk.

See? It's already happening.

Explain where what I posted is wrong in any way.

Because nothing you just said about post pandemic housing costs and inflation has anything to do with Powell not caving to Donny's desires to help offset the pain of his dumbass tariffs with lower interest rates.

You aren't wrong, it's just not relevant to Donnys sh*tting his pants because his supporters 401k's are vanishing like a fart in the wind.

It has nothing to do with Trump v Powell and everything to do with mismanagement by Powell and the federal reserve. Anyone with a brain should have understood that you cannot pump cheep money into an economy that's closed/closing production. The Fed should have started raising rates spring summer of 2020.

Non sequitur to trumps butthurt about Jerome not doing his bidding now.

If you want to regress the argument, Trumps free PPP money did more to light the fuse under inflation than the Fedz being slow to act. You're blaming the messenger because of his message - you need to come to terms with the fact that Donny got out over his ski's and royally fuqd up the very thing you trusted him with the most.

This will never happen. Ever. It takes too much self-awareness.

I absolutely agree about PPP and Trump's handling of Covid, it was dumb. But I also think Powell did Trump's bidding in 2020 by keeping the rates low, the Fed is supposed to operate independently but the reality is they don't. If you go back to Obama's term (and probably further) you can see (with hindsight of course) how the Fed carried out the admins wishes. You want to make this a Trump thing and all I'm pointing out is that Powell has a history of screwing up and needs to go. But Trump can't fire him and shouldn't try.

The only reason you are defending Powell is because Trump is going after him.
