QB Transfers NEWS ONLY

Not sure who the QB is for 2025...on the team or in the portal...but think whomever it is, for lack of Hendon Hooker walking thru the doors, I would think making quick assessments at LOS and accuracy, even if not necessarily NFL worthy, is a priority over athletic freaks...at least until Faizon gets on campus.

The offense has not looked the same because he hasn’t found a QB that can read the D as fast and accurate as quickly as Hooker did.

I think we are seeing to run Hype’s original O the QB has to be very cerebral in addition to being Athletic and good QB
Observations of last year's passing game: (1) Receivers just didn't run good routes, (2) Dropped too many balls (3) Nico threw behind receivers on slants way too often (4) Nico consistently overthrew wide open receivers on deep patterns (5) Frequently, receivers and QB didn't seem to make the same reads. It was a frustrating mess.

There isn't any news because no one knows anything. This is the one time in recent memory where the forum isn't buzzing with "insiders".

Don't kid yourself they are still here and I hope they attract a good transfer but as a Braves fan my jadedness prevents me from having any expectation of a big time signee. It may very well be that the staff felt burned by Nico and are afraid to commit a large amount of money in any one player like Nico got but I hope I am wrong.

Purely my opinion, but think the longer this drags, the less chance of us making a splash. If we're landing a QB1 type, I'd guess it would be over next few days...otherwise, we'll add someone who will round out our QB room, but not evident clear starter and roll w/ our guys.

Tulsa figured out Heupels offense and they were their kryptonite. Now the DCs in this league have it pegged. We've not run Hyps offense since. The offense of '22 is dead. Heck, even Heupel didn't think Hooker was a fit for his system so he went out and grabbed Milton. It was blind luck. I don't think you can look at anyone in HS or in the portal and predict how they'll perform at UT. Different league and different supporting cast. Everyone thought Nico was the anointed one and we see how that turned out. If UCLA sees Nico as superior to the kid from App St, it makes you wonder.
Baylor's QB is the only one that I think could plug and play.

The only QB currently in the portal I might consider is Mike Wright. Only as a depth piece, never as a starter. Angeli hasn't shown he has the arm strength to make the passes need for CJH offense.

I'd say mosey on over to 247 website and check out the list of possibles/likelies there. Look at how much experience they really have on the field, and check out their QB ratings. I'm thinking there's not much there better than what we have. I'm behind whatever CJH decides, though.

IF Faizon makes it to campus AND if he's the player our evaluators think he is.

funny enough, actually saw one of the "behind the scenes" youtube shorts the other day where the director said Jim Carrey totally adlibbed that scene. That framed paper was already in the bar they used and wasnt a prop. They had already cut but thankfully the camera was still rolling, and they left the scene in..........classic movie during Carrey's hay-day.
That is the only Jim Carrey movie I can watch. I hate everything he has ever done, but Dumb and Dumber is one of the funniest movies of all time. Jeff Daniels in a slapstick role was genius.

Word is, Gruden still has 3 years left to play 2. Sure, he's a little long in the tooth, but can you imagine the offense?

Soon.

The last couple of seasons, there hasn't been a need for a strong arm in our offense. The OL can't protect long enough and our WR can't get any sort of separation. How strong does your arm need to be for WR screens?

Just saw where the Appy State QB at UCLA has seen the writing on the wall with Nico and putting feelers out about entering the portal. Whether he could run Hypes offense like Hooker is an unknow but seems to me he should at least get some interests from TN.
14 Interceptions
132.9 QBR
207 yds rushing doesn't make up for those stats.

He's not the QB we are looking for.

Still need plenty of zip from the near hash to the far sideline. That's still a long throw distance wise just not down the field.

Pretty sure the Baylor kid is going to be drafted. Unless Baylor has a crap roster returning, I can't see that QB making a move to our program in a situation like this. Not worth it. Besides, what kind of OL do we really have? And our WR group is a complete unknown. I'd be completely shocked if he made the jump.

Good idea. Here's the link to the QB transfer prospects thread:

That thread is not the answer to this thread---it's the REASON for this thread.
The QB Transfer Prospects thread is currently at 67 pages. Who wants to filter through that for news?
