I could be dead wrong but I think the leak was intentional on our side. They knew he was being shopped around. He was trying to strong arm them into more money. I think Tennessee leaked it and got the exact reaction from everyone they wanted.

I don't think Danny is pissed. I think it was a master move and he's giddy over the results.

I'm not sure losing your starting QB after Spring is ideal. But, I also subscribe that Danny and Huep have this thing on lockdown. Also we know that theyve known this coukd happen, since December. But that Friday was a surprise. So, hard to fill in the gaps here.

Not my fault you guys seem to be missing the point of why pay any QB that's only going to be here 1 season $4mil when they've proven nothing in our system. Y'all seem to want to throw money callously around while complaining about paying players to begin with. It's not smart money management.

Agreed is a QB who is essentially a 6 month rental worth 4 million? The collective isn’t in this to lose money and I doubt it could recoup its investment is 6 months so I find it unlikely they make that type investment.

Also, we have to think. How many QB's we are targeting are making 1 or 2 million? Do we really need to give someone a 4X pay increase, just to prove a point? That isnt logical. Finance people usually are logical.

Just say UT gets Avery Johnson, does that mess things up with Merk, GM, and FB? Johnson is only a sophomore.

Johnson is going to be a RS SO this year, same as Nico. Imo I think should we land him, he’ll probably declare after this season, or maybe he stays and Merk bails, either way we’ll be fine…I think…I hope…

Anything is possible, but the supposed response from DW suggests it wasn't intentional. No firsthand info, but my understanding is he moved quickly to lock everything down.

As programs that put winning at all costs above being good, decent human beings. Money is king, all else be damned.

Oh I’m sure they’re pissed. Just also confident in making the correct decision as well, and on something that has potential to set a precedent nationwide.

They’re as pissed as anyone left in the lurch is, but I’m sure as the dust is settling they’re also realizing (like most of us are) this may end up being addition by subtraction if either an experienced portal QB can run the offense or one of the young guys can show promise and gain early game experience.

It's as if backup QBs have never had any success. Thank God Hendon hooker was our 1st string QB in 2021.

8-4 would be success. HH went 7-5 in 2021. Don't see us just bombing out, but playoff hopes look slim without a transfer.

From things I've read and heard, WR and DT are considered definite needs. OL and Secondary are also possible needs. Secondary because of the McCoy injury.

And now, QB is on the list.

Of course, we're at a point where we have to lose bodies to add bodies. The fat will have to be trimmed.

If you can get Avery out of KSU, you absolutely do it. His game is very Hendon like. Going to be a tough pull though. Hit him with your best offer and maybe he bites. Keep Luke, who I think is still an upgrade from Nico, especially from the mental side, as a back up plan. Either way, you are golden for 2025 season. This isn’t going to drag out, once portal opens it will end quickly.
