Gaston Moore. Nobody knows the system better. The connection between Coach Heup and Moore runs pretty deep. If the best QB coach in the nation asks you to come back and help develop two young QB’s for a year, his potential for a career in coaching college football skyrockets!

I would rather go with even GMac than Haynes King.

He is tough tho
Me personally, I'd take the experience and let GMac sit a year and get acclimated. From all reports, he's not mentally or physically ready to play .YET .. Not sure it's best for his development if he's truly not ready and gets forced to play in high leverage games. JMO

Wouldn’t he be hanging his GT brothers out to dry bouncing in the spring window?
Absolutely. Unfortunately, it's what this $hit has turned into. Either way, he's not leaving. Highly doubt he's the type to bounce to another school. He's got a really high character and real good HC. This was just hypotheticals.

Yeah I was sorta being facetious. Merk would be the guy anyway, not GMac.

Take away Ga St and VMI and Haynes King threw 9 TDs last season.

Will update this thread as more names emerge. These names are either names that have been thrown around, make sense, or pipe dreams

Luke Altmyer- https://247sports.com/player/luke-altmyer-46050393/

Jacoby Criswell- https://247sports.com/player/jacolby-criswell-46049484/

Avery Johnson-

Noah Fifita-

Josh Hoover
I’d add the losers of ND and Ohio State qb battles as realistic possibilities. Kienholz has made some nice throws today.

I doubt we are gonna bring in any established starters from other schools.

And you’re bringing in guys that would be 18 months behind Jake Merklinger in learning the system - who by the way might be more talented than any of them.

This desire to grab a new toy because we lost our starter is always a given around here.

True, but against GA he was 26-36 303 yds 2TD's and 0 Ints. 24 carries for 110 yards. He. Also only really played in 9 games with his injury. Hell, I'd take those numbers against GA. We beat GA with a QB put those type numbers up.

This narrative is overstated. Hendon came in the offseason and played great in 21. He played second fiddle to Milton as far as being prepped to play too. It may very well be Merk but ability will trump understanding the playbook every time.

Good thing is, it's not like the offense is that complex. Would think a Veteran QB could pick it up pretty quickly. If we can bring in a 1 yr high end veteran QB, then great Otherwise I hope we ride with Jake.

Ideally we would get someone who already has some familiarity with the system or is hyper experienced.

Notre Dames qb battle is one to watch as well.

Steve Angeli is viewed as the leader and played very well in relief of Leonard when he got sidelined in several games with injuries. But CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey are both highly regarded. Minchey would be a good fit for our scheme I think.

Minchey is from Hendersonville and got offered by us as a recruit. Don’t think he ever visited though.

You can’t go in the season with only 2 QBs. We need a new toy even if it’s not someone brought in to start

By that logic Gaston Moore should have been QB over Nico.

Interesting decision. Is this a bridge season to Faizon or does Tennessee in it to make it to the playoffs. I dont think you can get to the playoffs with Merklinger as the QB with so many new faces on offense. With an experienced QB playoffs aren't off the table

He got hurt dude.

Did you watch the UGA game even for a few minutes?

Yea that’s great he had one really awesome game.

He also had some really poo games passing.

Against UNC he completed 50% of his passes for 127 yards and zero TDs.

Against Duke he threw for 167 yards on on 32 attempts.

Against FSU he threw for 146 yards and 0 tds.
