I will predict that if Merk plays all season he will have more than Nico last year. Nico has talent but he is the most overhyped quarterback in Tennessee history. Hard to imagine he goes to a team with only fall camp and does great things. He was year two in Heupel’s offense and couldn’t run it.

I will say, the PR behind this is very damaging for Nico and his team. Whoever calling the shots couldn't imagine this level bad press behind these decisions.

Regardless, until/if he hits the portal, there is time to make this right. I'm going to wait and see what happens.

UT should be weighing all options at this point tho.

I work with a guy that lives in Texas and he sent me a text message today telling me he loved that we were not going to give in. He said they were talking about it on sports radio this afternoon in Dallas. He said they were laughing at Nico.

It's at least a major distraction, and the question will be is the juice worth the squeeze.

You'd think if his camp was willing to go this route, they'd have that kind of money on the table already someplace else. Now, even if they did, is it now worth it to the potential suitor?

The sad part.. Most of this is built on speculation, and perception of it.

Just watched a documentary on the 82 Brewers called "Just a bit outside"...it really just hit home to me the juxtaposition between that less mercenary sports world and this one.

It made me remember how much and why I grew up loving MLB...and why I don't now.
